“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

We stayed at the Drumnadrochit for one night. When we got there the staff member who checked us in was nice and we went up to our room. It was nothing like the pictures. It was dark and really small. The booking said we had a free upgrade and we never found out what that was but if this room was any sort of upgrade I would be shocked. The bed was, for lack of a better word, saggy and extremely squeaky. When you sat on it you would sink in and feel the springs. The washroom was in severe need of an update, but it was ok. The light fixtures were updated in the room but the size was different where the wires connected so there were holes in the ceiling showing. Some wallpaper was peeling off or it was a crack in the wall.
We were late on arrival and missed dinner but we decided to go to the upstairs bar to get a drink. The room was empty apart from one couple who were at a table. There were no staff members at the bar or in the room. The woman told us that it was too busy and to try downstairs. So we went down into the downstairs bar and it was the same thing. There was no one serving. We eventually left and had an amazing night at a pub called Fiddlers.
In the morning the staff in the restaurant were very nice and the meal was quite good too. The location is incredible right next to the Nessie Museum so you would think it would be better. The cost of this hotel was the same as some other ones that were absolutely luxurious on our trip.

I stayed just one night and wasn't that impressed. On arrival our 'executive room with a double and 2 twins' turned into a standard double which was horrible. Not even a toilet roll. Spoke to the desk who thankfully made a better choice for us. Even this room had problems with taps and lights with a very chipped mug for coffee. He did say though that they don't often deal with the company I had used (hotelclub) but I don't see howt this could matter. The staff at breakfast was a redeeming feature and breakfast was great.

The room was very spacious with bunk beds for the kids. It was quite clean. The location is great. The breakfast was great too. Loved it. Travelled in May 2011. We did not have our meals here other than the breakfast so would not be able to comment on the quality of food.

We stayed here one night and was not impressed with the rooms, or the cost. the rooms were horrible. Our room was a twin bed room, and had trash in the trash cans when we arrived, on top of there was Black mold all along the cieling of the shower. The staff didn't seem to be very friendly upon check-in either. For what we got it was definately over priced.

The Best part of this stay was the next morning at breakfast, the Gentleman assisting us was super friendly and the breakfast it self was quit enjoyable.

Cheap accommodation but not very clean. Room very small and bathroom had a friendly spider already staying. Shower was like a jet engine starting up, very interesting. Lots of dead flies on the corridor window sills, could not have been cleaned in days. Great location for boat ride on the loch, exhibition expensive. Staff friendly and breakfast good.

Thank you for your comments glad that you enjoyed your stay .. Mostly , we live in beautiful part of Scotland and the hotel sits in the middle of glorious wood land which attracts all sorts of animals that can very often be seen in the grounds of the hotel , red squirrels , red dear, pine martins , pheasants , rabbits etc and yes we very occasionally find a spider it's just the nature of where we live . On the dead flies I Believe this to be an over exaggeration I checked all the corridors and did not see a single fly .I have also spoken to our head housekeeper of many years who confirmed corridors are cleaned daily.

You did compliment the friendliness of the staff I have to agree they are a great team always looking to make our customers feel at home .

Hope you will come back and see us

My wife and I enjoyed our 2 night stay and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our evening meals. We found every member of staff we were involved with to be more than helpful and made our stay all the more enjoyable for that. Would have no problem going back there and probably will when on our travels next year.

We recently stayed here overnight on our whistle stop tour of Scotland. The hotel is clean and tidy. Some of the decor is a bit dated but it is clean and well maintained and to be honest, I was so tired I would have slept on a bed of nails. I would stay here again in heartbeat. After a meal in the town, we went to the bar in then hotel for a quite drink and got chatting to Sean and Tara. They were both very friendly and I have to say that those quiet drinks were the highlight of our stay in Scotland.
The staff could not be helpful enough and they are the people who make a stay here memorable. I would highly recommend staying here. The hotel is clean, tidy and run by exceptional staff.
