We stayed at the Drumnadrochit for one night. When we got there the staff member who checked us in was nice and we went up to our room. It was nothing like the pictures. It was dark and really small. The booking said we had a free upgrade and we never found out what that was but if this room was any sort of upgrade I would be shocked. The bed was, for lack of a better word, saggy and extremely squeaky. When you sat on it you would sink in and feel the springs. The washroom was in severe need of an update, but it was ok. The light fixtures were updated in the room but the size was different where the wires connected so there were holes in the ceiling showing. Some wallpaper was peeling off or it was a crack in the wall.
We were late on arrival and missed dinner but we decided to go to the upstairs bar to get a drink. The room was empty apart from one couple who were at a table. There were no staff members at the bar or in the room. The woman told us that it was too busy and to try downstairs. So we went down into the downstairs bar and it was the same thing. There was no one serving. We eventually left and had an amazing night at a pub called Fiddlers.
In the morning the staff in the restaurant were very nice and the meal was quite good too. The location is incredible right next to the Nessie Museum so you would think it would be better. The cost of this hotel was the same as some other ones that were absolutely luxurious on our trip.
