Owner description: This is a 5 star visitor attraction and retail complex. Loch Ness is already the most famous lake in the world but our aim is to make it better understood. This is achieved through a fully audio visually guided 35 minute tour. The presentation is theatrical in style and integrates the real tools and archive footage from four decades of research. As part of our educational remit, under 6s go free. The facts are objectively explained and whilst keeping the mystery centre stage, we place it in the context of the loch's very unusual properties. Thus we are endorsed by Scottish Natural Heritage as "A portal to the unique natural phenomenon that is Loch Ness". We offer a huge range of retail onsite and boat cruises on Loch Ness in the summer months. There is also a large cafe and restaurant attached to the site.

“Good but not what was expected..”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

This exhibit is not what we expected. We were expecting to hear about the sightings, theories, and lots about myth and legend. What we got was an exhibit that wanted you to be judge and jury on whether Nessie was real or not, gave you lots of scientific information as to why Nessie cannot exist, and gave you flimsy and poor evidence of her existence.

Look - to be fair I learned a lot about the scientific learnings, the method in which they have attempted to detect Nessie, but it was not as fun as I would have hoped.

It costs around £7 per adult to enter.

“Not what I expected.”
Reviewed April 26, 2013 via mobile

I'm not sure what I expected from a museum of a mythical creature but it wasn't this. You basically pay £14 to watch a few movies about the lake and the purported sightings and then you're done. While the movies were informative if you wanted to know what kind of animals are in the lake or the geology of the area, the experience wasn't what it could have been. You are sent from one dark room to another to watch a ten minute video and then you go out a door and you are finished. The best part is the mockup of the monster outside that makes for some funny pictures.

“Interesting”

We enjoyed this as it was informative and interesting. Slightly dated technique that is used. The cafe next to centre sels lovely cakes and coffe though and enjoyed it. If in the area though please visit the centre as it is enjoyable.

“We'll be back!”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

An amazing trip to this beautiful part of our heritage was made extra special by everyone here. The exhibition, although small, was a wonderful fact giving insight for the youngest of my boys and presented in such a way that captured their imagination. The tourist shops were not over priced as in other cities and so the boys came back loaded with bags of souvenirs. The scenery is awe inspiring and really takes your breath away. Parking is close by too.. We are already planning our return.
