didn't get a chance to visit the visitors center which looked interesting. The caves themselves are very big inside, and the inner one was just so full of water that we couldn't really experience it, but fascinating. Incredibly colored pebbles and seaweed outside. Beautiful, romantic, wind-swept and fierce!

Free attraction - a large cave with a second cave with a waterfall. You can sit and imagine long-ago people living and working in there.

Very impressive natural rock formation resulting from combination of sea and river water. Great for visitors of all ages. I would certainly return to try the boat trip up beyond the waterfall as there was too much water coming down to be able to venture past. But the sound and power of the water in the enclosed space was incredible.
Also had interesting conversation with the man who was digging in the hope of finding yet another cave - good luck with that !

visited here on a cold and snowy day

visit across the road to see the river running into the pot.

not many steps easy access.

the visitors centre is further up the road but we didn't visit as it was closed.

there is usually a tour guide but he wasn't there due to it being festive period.

Durness is almost where you fall off the edge of the earth - and the Smoo Cave is surreal.
Beautiful sea, beautiful beaches, beautiful views.
