Got to see the Smoo cave on our own and it was fantastic having the place to ourselves! Steps down to the cave, superb view out to sea from the cave and the entrance is a proper mouth. Plenty of birds nesting amongst the crags. There was plenty of rain water piling into the roof of the cave and standing on the wooden viewing platform was literally moving us with it's natural force. Lots of photo opportunities from the many cliff paths. Well worth a visit....

The UK's largest sea cave, you certainly have to travel to get to it. Even if you're not into your geology this is an impressive place to visit, especially the waterfall that enters the cave at the back. I visit at a quiet time of year so the cave tour wasn't running but would of paid to go on it (around £4 for an adult I think). Not an attraction you can spend all day at but worth seeing if you're up this far north.

Lovely place to visit. Well worth the trip as is the walk around the surrounding headland. Sea is clear as day and it's just like being in the Caribbean apart from the temperature!

Free entry and tucked just below the road, its an easy visit or short walk from the Mackays hotel. We'd go back for the boat ride to the back cave if it wasn't so far away.

It's a very large open mouthed cave - one of the biggest of its type in the UK, apparently. There are normally tours further inside but it was too wet when we were there.
