“Fabulous sand but beware riptides”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Beautiful sandy beach with very few people around. Some kids on an inflatable got caught by a riptide which caused some panic for a while. Otherwise excellent

“lovely caribbean beach on the highland shores”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

i have been on a tour of scotland in august 2012, and durness is one of the most lovely quiet places i have visited. amazing beach and landscape. nice cliffs. the loo cave is worth the visit. there is a simple memorial monument to john lennon that apparently spent his holidays in durness as a boy.

“World tour of Scotland”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

This woas our visit mid point of our tour & highly recommended. Fabulous beach with stunning black rocks embedded in the sand. Beautiful, dramatic & very clean. Very windy day & not sure if because of location this is always the case but also quite ward so wind not an issue. Would recomend a visit.

“Awesome Natural Beauty (Beach)”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

It's a very nice beach. If you have seen movie KNPH, then this is the kind of beach where hero lands. It's mere natural beauty and if you appreciate that, you will love it.

It's just 10 minutes drive from Durness. There is ample parking space to park anything. Roads are narrow and single lane. You won't find any food or drinking water supply so take your own. You have to take some stairs to reach the beach. But even if you don't go down, the view from the roadside is also awesome. Getting down and coming up is not hard i would say. anyone is normal health can do it even a 60 year old.

You can spend 2 hours roaming on the beach or just sitting. Nice place to enjoy with family/friends. Kids will also love it. Dogs will enjoy too.

Also, nearby in durness, you get horse riding farms where you can try your hand on a horse if you would like to do so. Food is scottish purely in durness.

“Clean, clear and lots of space”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

We sat and watch everlasting amounts of sand being revealed. The waterfall at the edge of the bay makes a good subject for photographers and the hard dry sand is great for walking on. Just enjoy the breathtaking scenery, remove your shoes and have a paddle - we did!
