“Brilliant bay”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

A great sandy beach with lovely blue-green sea and imposing rocky cliffs. Very photogenic and a great day out! You can walk all the way along the length of the beach and up a track at the end to a lighthouse which has good sea views and vistas back along the sand. If you find it too cold/windy the craft village isn't far away with hot drinks and interesting shops! Well worth a visit!

“Great walk along the sand”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Really nice place to visit, even in the winter! I have been going to this place for years and it is so nice. It is never hot so swimming is not for everyone here. It is great going for a walk and the views are also not to be missed.

“White sands and tranquility”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

I came here in early November and had it to myself. A beautiful bay that curves around to a headland stretching north into the Pentland Firth. When it's clear you get views out towards Cape Wrath. I'd reccommend taking a wind proof jacket or top as it's unlikely to very calm weatherwise.

“Balnakeil Bay”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Take the short walk from Durness Golf course around the bay on the beach ( mind the cows on the sand! I am not kidding). Once on the other side take another short walk ( 1.5 miles ) upto Faraid Head. You will get some of the best coastal views in the British Isles. Even if you don't walk to Farid, the beach is a hidden gem.
