We had driven from Ullapool to Durness without knowing where we would stay and were fortunate to find Aiden House and Alexandra! We had originally only intended to stay one night but after meeting Alexandra and seeing our room with a view, we decided to stay for two.

It is a wonderful house full of wonderful decoration and Alexandra pays a lot of attention to detail, and the little things do count. We had the room on the ground floor with a fantastic view from the bed to the cliffs (and sunrise). The room is not huge, but it doesn't need to be. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom had a shower and excellent amenities, and even though, as one reviewer said, the decor was not alpine like the house, it was cozy and warm feeling and perfect.

Breakfast was incredible and Alexandra places a lot of emphasis on the quality of the food she offers her guests, as she does with all of the little things in her house. I didn't feel the need to eat fatty food and was given a choice of a wide range of options (including porridge) along with the small buffet of fruit and cereals. It was wonderful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Aiden House and would unconditionally recommend accommodation and hostess to anyone who has the pleasure and opportunity to visit this special place.

I spent 3 nights at Aiden House last week and have to say that it was a fantastic place to stay. Newly and purpose built as a B&B in a chalet style it had beautiful wooden floors and walls downstairs with fantastic underfloor heating. Downstairs rooms are also accessible. The decor is clean and fresh and quite minimalist - or uncluttered - which suits the rooms. The bathrooms, with intriguing glass hand basins, and good power showers are great. Views from the upstairs rooms are all fantastic - we had the family room (number 2?) with views in 2 directions but all the other upstairs rooms looked in two directions as well. Bathrooms are well equipped with toiletries and huge towels which will be changed on a daily basis unless you request not to. The room comes with a good range of teas, coffees, biscuits and a chocolate as well as a TV/DVD and free wi-fi for the guests; all of these things make it a joy to relax in. And it is very, very clean.
The breakfast is to die for! A superb range of fruit, yummy porridge and a huge choice of traditional Scottish cooked breakfast items (including haggis) or smoked haddock, smoked salmon and kippers. I didn't see the kippers but the haddock would have served 2 people and we actually took some of the smoked salmon out to eat for lunch as well - there was so much. Our hosts, Alexandra who actually runs the B&B and husband Kenny were more than welcoming and very helpful to our every need. Their local connections and knowledge were the icing on the cake of an excellent stay. And the pineapple I took away with me was fab!
We would definitely stay again when in the area.

Room Tip: The family room upstairs was beautiful - all rooms have views but I imagine those upstairs would hav...

We spent 2 nights there in the family room which was more than big enough for 3 adults and breakfast could not be faulted unless you class too much good cooking a fault. The house was modern and Alexeandra has excelent knowledge of the area and was a great host.

We stayed at Aiden B&B for one night while travelling around the Scottish Highlands.

Alexandra is a very attentive and welcoming host, the rooms and bathrooms are very nicely decorated and breakfast is delicious (what a beautiful and inviting fruit platter, Alexandra!).

Just a small critique about the power shower which was not very powerful and took a while to work out as the dials seem to have been set the wrong way around.

Although Durness is not a very charming town, it is a good stopping point if visiting the area, with a cash machine, some decent restaurants and shops. More importantly, the Kyle of Durness at low tide is spectacular and reason enough to stay there!

The hospitality we received from the beginning to end of our stay was excellant. These were the heartiest breakfasts I've seen. The house is the last on the penninsula, so view is excellant. Would recommend to friends and family and will go again.
