The hotel and its staff were top class and offered advice and help at every request. The rooms were cozy and clean while the food was the highest standard and presentation I've seen so far. The shops and beach are within a stones throw away and was great. We had a taste of some of the local whisky's and the barman was very helpful. The walks along the royal dornoch golf course was epic and we couldn't have picked a better weekend. We'll be back

Stayed here, a decade after first spotting it on a previous visit to Dornoch as a "must stay there one day". Well it was worth the wait! Extremely welcoming curved bar, with a log fire, great ambience, a huge range of drinks, especially whiskies and amenable & knowledgeable barman. The food was very good, both breakfast & evening meal, again with first class pleasant but prompt service. Room was also excellent - warm with a comfortable four poster, great views over the Dornoch Firth and a decent bathroom. Nice touch to have a wee decanter of sherry in the room, topped up each day by the fairies, in addition to a good range of hot beverages. Beware that it's a long way up three flights and our only real complaint of the stay was noisy pipes, probably clearable by bleeding the radiators. The hotel is 3 stars but felt like more, and is really made by the very pleasant staff and that bar which you could live in! Congratulations and keep it up. We'll be back for another mountain biking trip soon.

Absolutely wonderful , from booking till end of our 3 day break we were extremely well looked after by the friendly staff at Dornoch Castle. Food was beautifully presented and tasted soooperb! Bar service was excellent too with friendly barmen remembering our favourite tipples which were enjoyed by a roaring log fire. Our 1st night was in a Garden room which although being quite small was lovely and clean and tastefully decorated. Our 2nd & 3rd nights were in the Old Court Room - wow - it was faaantastic! We felt thoroughly spoilt at Dornoch Castle Hotel . Beautiful countryside, friendly people, fab hotel - we will be back as soon as possible.

An exellent Hotel for a romantic break! The staff, (especially the local barman, who's knowledge of whiskey was 2nd to none) and the food were all exellent! The resteraunt across the streets food was a tad cheaper but on a par with the hotels. With the beautiful beach, golf course and not forgetting the Cathedral across the road, there was plenty to do.

It's also a great starting point to dicover the North Highlands (Dunrobin Castle), whisky and wild life. An absolute dream location, especially for 3 stars. Definately be back!

Room Tip: The back rooms were a lot bigger

This was our second visit to the Dornoch Castle Hotel and it was as good as the first time we were there which was in 2009. Everything was excellent and we would (and have) recommend it to anyone we know. The staff are friendly, helpful and quick with a joke, the room we had was clean, warm and had had the comfiest bed ever ! We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was superb - maybe a little dearer than your average 'pub grub' right enough! - but as far as we were concerned more than worth it !
Ticked all our boxes - go see for youselves !

Good afteroon JulieMci,

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, it is really lovely when we see people returning and receiving such lovely compliments.

As per our previous replies, we really pride ourselves on our food, and as you say, is a little dearer than your normal pub grub food, but then again the food that we supply is not your average pub grub and is all local sourced, fresh and cooked and served by a great team and delighted when guests take the time to emphasise how much they enjoyed it.

We hope to see you again soon.

With warmest wishes from all the team at Dornoch Castle Hotel
