“Lovely B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

Quiet B&B in a lovely setting on the edge of Dornoch overlooking a large well maintained garden and lovely views beyond. Very large room and en-suite, really clean and nicely decorated. Dog friendly, we were all made to feel very welcome in Tricia and Allan's lovely bright home. Lots of info and ideas on where to visit, an ideal base for touring the far north of Scotland. Dornoch is a very attractive area with lovely buildings. It was very nice to have the option of a continental breakfast as well as the usual cooked option, this does not seem to be very common but a nice light alternative when doing B&B for more than a few days.

My three nights at Del Mar were unforgettable. I slept in a spacious and comfortable room with wonderful views of the delightful garden and the Moray Firth. A warm welcome from hosts, Tricia and Allan, delicious breakfasts, and excellent advice on what to visit prepared me to enjoy so many sites of interest, as well as the beautiful long beaches and two golf courses. I visited The Tarbat Discovery Centre in the lovely village of Portmahomack, Dunrobin Castle with its falconry display, Pictish standing stones of Tarbat peninsula, Dornoch Cathedral and Croick Church, all within very easy driving distance from Del Mar. The area is of considerable historical interest, but the natural beauty of the surroundings also makes it a delight for those who enjoy walking and being outdoors. At the end of each day I appreciated the peace and comfort of the accommodation and the hospitality of my hosts. I very much look forward to a return visit.

Wonderful welcome by the proprietors Tricia & Allan. The room, which can sleep upt 3 people, is lovely & quiet, with beautiful views over the hills and the Forth. This is a must if you are travelling in the Dornoch area. You will want to come and stay again!

Room Tip: Very highly recommended.

Fiona MacLean from Aberdeenshire stayed in early May2012. She wrote:
I stayed here for two nights with Tricia and Allan and had a wonderful visit. The area is scenic and Tricia and Allan’s B and B has marvelous views over the Moray Firth, the hills of Sutherland and the surrounding area. I slept comfortably in their spacious accommodation. Breakfast was extremely good (and hearty) and was served in their newly furbished dining room. Peaceful and restful, this is a lovely spot to travel from to explore Sutherland, Ross-shire and further north. Dornoch is a very nice spot to explore. I loved the museum and the visitor’s outlet (Dornoch Jail) which has many leading brands of knitwear, shoes, jewellery and paintings. There are various restaurants in Dornoch which offer appetizing tasty meals.
Tricia and Allan are friendly and helpful and offered me lots of information on the area to make my stay pleasant and enjoyable. I’ll certainly return.
Their warm hospitality is a real joy and a home from home.

Room Tip: Accommodation is on one level so is extremely good for anyone with mobility problems
