“Unspoilt beauty”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Totally unspoilt so no burger vans / food outlets / ice cream vans. Instead there are wide expanses of soft golden sand, clear sea that shelves gently, rock pools and sand dunes to explore at leisure. Never in any danger of getting crowded there is ample free car parking by the lifeboat station, toilet block within close proximity to the beach, and a playground for any children bored by playing on the beach. Close to golf club and holiday caravan park. Pack up a picnic and have a brilliant time. I felt a light breeze when I was there which was delightful in the heat of the day but it could get a bit windy as the coast is quite exposed at that point.

“Simply Stunning”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

This is a stunning beach, always clean and never crowded. Bring a picnic or pick up food in the town as there are no food facilities on the beach. There are toilets and a lifeboat station. Can walk for miles on golden sand and is great for walking the dog.

“Wild, windy and beautiful”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

We drove down to the beach before dinner and were surprised at its beauty. The golf links are right on the edge of the beach and we watched players driving their balls back up onto the green.
The unusual reddish-coloured rocks and the golden sand were impressive and the beach stretches so far. What an asset to the town.

Great day out for the family - never overly busy - easy access - clean, family friendly - take food & drink - could do with a little ice cream shop/counter

This was a charm. the beach was empty, the sun was shining on the waters of the Firth, the beach was clean. well worth a detour off the A9 north.
