Dornoch Cathedral is a hidden treasure that must be visited when in the area. It is aesthetically superb but also has a uniquely tranquil atmosphere and fascinating history.

I live in Inverness, and it was 4 years before I visited Dornoch. I was not disappointed. The Cathedral is right in the centre of the nice little town - and the stained glass is fantastic. Some lovely flower arrangements also. A friendly welcome.

For those not of a spiritual persuasion, they can embrace the architectural symmetry of the ceilings and the wonderful light qualities from the Artistic leaded windows with fabulous and colourful historical references related to the local area. The intricate craftsmenship of the woodworking round the lectern and the quilting on the tapestry made by local folk. The Cathedral is an active place of worship indicated by the play area for children in one of the naves. A very popular visitor experience that can be enjoyed from any perspective. There is a small gift shop area offering souvenirs of your visit with very appropriate wares, including carved Cathedral mice
