For a decade or two, I have travelled to Scotland every other year for two weeks of golf. I never fail to stop in Dornoch. It is the perfect Scottish town, ancient cathedral, beachs, farms and five excellent golf courses. Now I always stay at The Bank House, a B&B with five extra-large rooms, beautifully decorated, gardens, modern bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs, cable TV. The breakfasts are big and Scottish. For supper there's a pub/restaurant just across the street or a five minute walk takes you to the town square passing several restaurants on the way with a range of prices.

In October I brought my nephew along to experience Highland golf at several locations. We had played for seven straight days when he tore a muscle in his left calf. The accumulation of blood caused swelling and pain that ended his golf outing. Luckily we were staying at The Bank House so that the owners, Paul & Irene, could help me change travel arrangements and get him home to Chicago. Irene had recently broken her leg; she loaned my nephew one of her crutches to practice and see if it was adequate for travel. We used their laptop to book a room at a Heathrow hotel that would ease his travel. We borrowed Paul's cell phone to receive calls from home. Paul recommended a stop at a medical clinic in nearby Golspie. We found a doctor there on a Saturday morning that OK'd him for travel and loaned him a crutch that would get him to Chicago. We thank the Scottish medical system for a free exam and a free loaner crutch. SO, do travel to the Highlands, do stop in Dornoch, do stay at The Bank House. You'll be in good hands.

We arrived in Dornoch at 5pm, no room available with VisitScotland, likely we found this beautiful guest house with very warm hosts.
The only available room was a double, but thay arrange an air mattress for my son; the room was great, with a jacuzzi bath.
We much appreciate the breakfast, with a big table for all the guests; we meet a lot of golf players, and we had a nice conversation.
Thank you very much!

Huge, elegant townhouse with individually decorated rooms. Our room (20) was most luxurious with an enormous, comfortable bed. The bathroom was better than our own at home!! and had a jacuzzi bath, seperate shower, washing machine which was a godsend as we were touring Scotland and needed to wash a few things. The fridge was useful too to chill our own wine. Breakfast was excellent with huge choices. Our hosts were charming, very friendly and couldn't have done more for us. One of the best B&Bs we stayed in while touring.

You know how it is. You spend the most of a morning and afternoon driving and come early evening, you're tired and want somewhere to stay for the night. Having pushed on to Dornoch, we initially drove past The Bank House thinking that it would be very pricey. Anyways, we turned around and enquired if they had any rooms for the night, which being early in the season, they did.

The Bank House has a very homely and 'warm' feel to it. You don't feel uncomfortable in the slightest and both our hosts Paul and Irene were extremely polite, pleasant and above all did their best to make the stay comfortable. The rooms had plenty of space, complete with en-suite facilities and thick-set curtains which allowed for a great nights' sleep.

The following morning, what I deemed to be the 'breakfast of the holiday' was served to us - while our hosts joined in with conversation which led to a guided tour of the premises.

My only regret was that we had just one night there - I would have happily stayed longer! I'm aiming to do another road-trip to Scotland in the future and would happily ensure that a revisit to The Bank House was incorporated into the journey. Definitely recommended to anyone considering a stay in the area.

No long review here.....First trip this September. We go back every two years, as some of us are members of Royal Dornoch. We will never stay at another place. Paul and his wife are wonderful, and the bacon and eggs....isn't just bacon, eggs and toast. Marvelous little spot, but better for non-golfers who want an extremely comfortable spot for a few days rest near heavan. Thank you Paul and

My partner and I decided to have a relaxing weekend away and decided to spend our first night in Dornoch and booked the Bank house on a family members recommendation. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome and shown to our room which was immaculate, very spacious and extremely comfortable. In the morning we had a fantastic breakfast before going for a lovely walk along Dornoch beach and a walk around the town. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Dornoch and it was the perfect start to our short break. The highlight being this wonderful bed and breakfast.
