Really disappointed with the hotel. The view was lovely however the rooms were dirty, bedding stained and the shower in the ensuite didn't work. No heating other than a convector which we had to decide did we want the heating on, or the lamps or the kettle or even charge our phones because there wasn't an available socket to plug into. On one evening I ordered 'Cullen Skink' which is a rich fish soup done in cream...really nice. So suggested to my husband the following evening that he would like it..so he ordered. Obviously a different chef because what turned up was absolutely nothing like the day before. It was unpleasant and didn't get eaten. We were to meet friends, at the hotel from Inverness the following day, who had travelled 3 hours with two small children. We all went for a walk and arrived at the hotel for lunch. After deciding what we wanted when we ordered the waitress came back and said the kitchen was closed but we could have sandwiches...fine we ordered sandwiches. Then she comes back to say the chef has gone home..great!! The kids were extremely hungry and we had to travel another hour to get into Perth so that we could get something to eat. I understand that the hotel had just had a change of ownership about a year prior to our visit and yet when we booked all the leaflets showed the rating that belonged to the previous owners...not the new owners. Did make a complaint at the time and later through 'Visit Scotland'. Would most definately never stay again.

When we arrived at the hotel the staff were not expecting us until the following weekend even though we had booked only a few days earlier by phone. The hotel was by no means full so this was not a real problem except it was one of the coldest weekends of the year and the room we were put in had not been pre-heated. We spent most of the night putting on more layers to warm up. The loch outside was probably warmer than the bed!!

Overall the hotel is not too bad- full of character and with fantastic views. The staff were generally helpful and tried to make our stay enjoyable. As we generally stay in chain hotels it was a different experience for us.

My advice is to take a hot water bottle if you stay in the winter and double check your booking is correct prior to arrival especially in peak times. Ladies take your own hairdryer to avoid a bad hair day!

This was a lovely hotel but is now under new ownership and has gone down hill very quickly. Rooms are not cleaned properly. Breakfast is very slow and some of the food is bad. Order a meal and you will wait all night for it to be served and then it will either be not what you ordered or cold. The same few staff seem to be on from early morning to late night. Will never stay there again it was terrible at £39 per night per person it is a rip off.

So pleasantly surprised..the rooms are quirky, but the quirks are explained on charming little cards in each room, the staff is friendlyand bright, the food is good and the views of Loch Earn are spectacular! Stayed here the first night of my driving tour of Scotland and like it so much I come back at the end. Not for the pretentiuos, but if you've got a sense of humor and a taste for beautiful scenery, this ia a wonderful little place.

The room was good value, but we had to get rid of
four spiders in the bedroom.
The en-suite bathroom was very basic, and
obviously
decorated in the 1970s/early 80s, when cheap
yellow
plastic was in vogue for bathroom suites.
Apparently it had been 'recently upgraded', in
other
words they bought a new towel rail and toilet roll
holder from Argos.
There were spiders on the walls who took it in
turns
to abseil up and down when the shower was on, and
webs all around the windows and ceiling which
nobody
had been bothered to clear for quite some time.
Other than that it was adequate as a stop-over in
the amazingly beautiful village of St. Fillans,
which is on the edge of Loch Earn, where the
mountains sweep down to the village edge.
The hotel has a beer garden right beside the
Lough,
which is lovely, though watch out for the midges
on
a summer evening.
Food at the hotel is basic, no better. Breakfast
was
fine.
The Drummond Hotel is an okay budget choice, but
not
somewhere to stay for long.
