“Bluestone Church was everything we hoped it would be and more!”
Reviewed June 6, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

Excellent communication with the owner who thought of everything we would need to know in advance of our very easy, coded check-in. The chapel has retained all it's charm with the conversion to comfortable, modern standards. Spotlessly clean and the whole house is well stocked with anything you could possibly need both in the kitchen and throughout. The beds were luxurious and we slept with the cantilevered windows open to the hills and woods surrounding. Every morning we loved walking out our chapel door and stepping over to a full Scottish breakfast cooked to order at the General Store. The peaceful loch is just across the road to a little park with paths. Behind Bluestone is a woodsy walking/bike path that passes streams, waterfalls, hills, and plenty of sheep. You can take the path all the way to the next town of Comrie (6.5miles) if you're so inclined...and we were! (Eat at Hanson's Kitchen!)
While the location is central to many areas, we simply wanted to nestle in to the pace of St. Fillans and let it message away our travel stresses with it's tranquil magic. A truly refreshing oasis! Have dinner and the whisky flight at Achray House less than a ten minute walk down the road with gorgeous loch views!
Spending time relaxing and enjoying Bluestone Church while listening to our own music on the I-pod dock well situated in the living room, reading the provided information and books on the area, easily cooking dinner in the well appointed kitchen, watching the pheasant visit the back garden, and listening to the birds with nature all around us...wish I could transport myself back there right now!

Thank you so much for your delightful and fulsome review. What can I say except that I am delighted you share our thoughts on this special place. Yes, the cottage is perfectly clean, the beds large, the linens luxurious, the house very comfortable and ample in all its provisions to ensure a happy holiday, but there is something more than that. Somehow the little place manages to seduce with its own particular character, and it is gratifying that you have recognised our own vision of the cottage and it's locality when you write so eloquently of a 'tranquil magic - a truly refreshing oasis' How lovely for us that you felt an emotional response simply by being here. Life can be hectic and it is wonderful to note your feeling of envigorarion and joy of place at Bluestone Church here in St Fillans. We very much hope you will return again some time. As we say in Scotland ..

“Simply stupendous”
Reviewed April 23, 2018 for a stay in December 2017

The Bluestone Church I can only describe as a little piece of heaven. The location was remarkable, with the church located a stone throw from the loch, which was nothing short of breath taking.

The accommodation, was perfectly equipped and felt like a home away from home. In addition St. Fillans itself is really well positioned, near local attractions and world renowned golf courses.

Thank you Grace, this was one of the highlights of our holiday!

“Excellent ecumenical accommodation”
Reviewed April 22, 2018 for a stay in April 2018

A home away from home.
Comfy beds, wood burning stove and thoughtful seating areas for groups or a bit of peace.
Location is an ideal central starting point for touring this part of Scotland by car with circular return drives lasting from late brekky to late afternoon.
The owner and property managers' communication and guidance were excellent.

“A haven of peaceful tranquility”
Reviewed November 5, 2017 for a stay in October 2017

The Bluestone Church is set in the beautiful village of St Fillans. The owners have successfully strived to create a calm, peaceful, well equipped and homely accommodation to welcome guests. The Church is welcoming from the first step you take across the threshold, spotlessly clean and with every possible need you may have, thought about in advance by the owners. The beds offer a wonderfully comfortable nights sleep. We enjoyed lots of walks with picturesque views , days out to explore local areas of interest and a great range of places to enjoy locally cooked produce. Liam’s coffee shop in the village is well worth a visit...yum. The autumn colours were spectacular. Grace and Jo were a fantastic source of places to visit and their kindness shone through in their wish for us to have a successful visit. We will definitely be returning.

We very much appreciate the fact that you and your family choose to come to stay on a couple of occasions each year. It is really gratifying to know that our absolutely first focus of concern, essentially the comfort and enjoyment of all of our visitors, has so evidently been recognised by you over many years now.

Thank you again for sharing your experiences, thoughts, and comments on our attention to detail, our welcome, and the comforts of Bluestone Church, and its most beautiful central Highland location of stunning St. FIllans. “Idyllic Bluestone Church in St Fillans”
Reviewed October 22, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

A luxurious stay - 5 Star Hotel standard! - even offered a choice of 3 kinds of duvet and quilts. Very well appointed and the reconstruction inside is beautiful and restful. Lovely garden with seating outside to listen to the birds or to dry clothing. A rich location for activities from the doorstep - walking along Loch Earn and early morning swimming with stunning mountain backdrop [walking back in minutes for a luxurious hot shower! ] - to sites to see on day trips or quick visits such as nearby Comrie with its deli and bakery selling artisan bread, pies and award winning local cheeses. I recommend this without hesitation and look forward to visiting again.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a lovely review, it was our pleasure to have you to stay, and we are so pleased to hear you had a relaxing visit, and enjoyed all the home comforts of Bluestone Church, especially the luxuriousness of the beds and bedding. Great to know you could revel in your exhilarating morning swim in the Loch in the knowledge that you could happily scamper back immediately to the house to the joy of a lovely hot power-shower. I'm sure all your comments on the locality, the amenities, the garden, and the convenience of the location will prove very helpful to our future guests. The sunny blue skies and stunning Autumn foliage has proved spectacular for the last several weeks, and even into mid November. Today in the garden we are enjoying the company of a very handsome male pheasant and his pretty little wife. Together with two new visitors that we have not seen before, two Red-legged Partridges, who are delightfully inquisitive and friendly. They peer in the back door to encourage us to provide them frequently with seeds and nuts. We can safely say that St. FIllans and its outstanding natural beauty is stunning in all the four seasons of the year. Thank you again for coming, and for enjoying all that we have to offer.

With Best Wishes

“Idyllic location with fascinating historic environs.”
Reviewed October 22, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

The Bluestone Church has been converted into a two-bedroom gem of holiday accommodation. Impossibly picturesque from the outside - set back from the road by a beautiful, sloping, heather-planted garden - its interior has every amenity one could wish for; immaculately furnished yet homely. Fascinating and unexpected discoveries can be made within a very short drive from St Fillans: the wild 1715 Jacobite battlefield site of Sheriffmuir; the German POW Camp of Cultybraggan preserved like a ,time-capsule of the Second World War; the town of Comrie, known as the 'Shaky Toun', earthquake capital of the UK and the nearby 1874 'Earthquake House' , built to record earth tremors, has claims to being the smallest historic building in Europe. Well worth a visit.

Thank you again for coming to stay and for your very kind and positive review. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your time at Bluestone Church and found the accommodation to be warm, inviting, and comfortable. It was our pleasure to have you here especially as you revelled in wild swimming in the Loch and admired the glorious scenery we are so privileged to enjoy. We thought you may like to read this eloquent excerpt, taken from an old travelogue, that we keep here at Bluestone Church....
'We know not what Arcadia may be like, but no spot in Britain so thoroughly embodies our most cherished conceptions of it as St. FIllans. It is the quintessence of undesigned loveliness. Every feature is attractive, both in itself and in relation to others. The river ripples merrily and carelessly out of the still Loch. The foot-bridge across it looks as if it had got there by accident. The trees arrange themselves in graceful groups, and the greensward seems to require no art to keep it smooth and soft. A little row of houses constitutes the old village, and here and there along the Loch and road-side rise pleasant little villas whose sides are festooned with the exquisite red blossoming Tropaeolum, growing naturally as no art can make it grow in other districts. All around are hills beautiful in shape and colouring. There is nothing bare and nothing uncomely, and yet there is no effort and no pretence - a realisation of honest Gonzalo's ideal in the "Tempest" --- a place where ...
