“Our favourite holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2010

We have been to Monzievaird 5 or 6 times now and we think it's the perfect holiday. The chalets are well spaced out and each seem to have a great view of the loch. They are clean and ours had a covered veranda (handy for when it rains). Theres a lovely walk round the loch, tennis court and a great big grass area, perfect for a "friendly" game of rounders or wellie throwing competions! The staff at reception are lovely and helpful. We hired the boats for a few days too but struggled to catch anything. Saw squirrels, bats, herons and a hedgehog. It is a very peaceful and relaxing holiday. Would go back again in a minute!

We arrived on the monday afternoon for a four night break at Loch .mozievaird .after a wonderfull greeting at reception ,we were handed our keys to Lodge No 20 , "Janet". This was a three bedroom lodge with views over the loch . A nice balcony to sit out on in the evening , and feed the local ducks ! The lodge was very clean and well equiped . Even a barbeque just outside to use, this was used on one occasion . We sourced the barbeque food locally from Crieff , which was amazing. There is a nice walk around the loch which we did in the evenings , there is also a tennis cout , disc Golf , and a kids play park .There was also plenty space to ride bikes round the Lodges
,although round the loch with bikes was not recomended ,due to the softer ground . It was a good base for a four day break , hopfully we will return !

This place was fanstastic, from the minute we stepped through the front door. Our pre ordered Tesco shop was already unpacked into the fridge/cupboards and the place was so clean that we thought we were the first to stay. The loch is in view form the living room window, and we couldn't see any of the other chalets. It was so peaceful (when our 3 year old twins shut up) and calm. The loch was so tranquil we didn't want to leave. We're not getting our deposit back - not because we trashed the joint, but we've asked them to keep it for next year's stay!!!! Lots of things to do in the area, from payable attractions to the many beautiful walks in the nearby hills.

PS - the sauna in the bathroom was fab too!

Stay 3 nights over the Easter Break. This was our 1st time and can only rate it as 1st class. The lodge (No. 22) was clean and had everything you needed eg, towels, soap, washing up liquid, etc. We didn't cook a great deal. We either ate out in Crieff or had a carry-out. There is a list of recommended restuarants, etc in the welcome folder. Our lodge had a sauna which was bigger than we thought and very easy to work. The lodge was slightly up a hill away from reception but the views were fantastic and had ducks meandering up from the water.

I would recommend the Beauty Salon (above the reception). Gillian is very friendly and puts you at ease as soon as you enter. I had my legs waxed and a nail polish, and my teenage daughter had a nail polish and a facial (very relaxing). Her prices were very reasonable and would recommend as a wee treat to yourself.

The walk around the loch were lovely. It took us about 2hrs. A bit muddy on the otherside (take wellies).

The girls played tennis a few time. You can hire the equipment (not expensive) but we had our own. The is plenty of open space from ball games etc. And, every dog will love running in and out of the trees.

We have now stayed at Monzievaird five times - twice over a Christmas week and have found each visit, with our dogs, very peaceful and a great place to just chill-out. Perfect walk around the loch with much wildlife, water and woodland. The chalets are placed around the loch, each with a different view and each with a good level of privacy. We like the ones with a balcony, which gives you another door out and a great place to sit and watch the stars. The sauna in the larger chalets is very nice after a walk around the loch. Crieff is just right for shops and pubs: I think we will be back!

We ( my self and two children) just decided to try out these lodges outside Crieff as friends had stayed there last year. Its truly a beautiful setting on the side of the Loch. Lots of space for children to run around , great tennis court and Frisbee golf which the children loved.....very close to the Glenturret distillery which is well worth a visit , but the best has to be the wonderful walks. The lodges are spaced out very well , that it feels like you are on your own most of the time. Great golf courses at Crieff and Comrie , and also Glen eagles is not too far away.
The people who run the place very friendly. Definitely back there again at some point.

We had two visits to Loch Monzievaird in 2009 and are planning a return this year. The first visit was our first holiday with two children in tow (age 6 months and 21 months).

The lodges are situated in the most beautiful location and although this is a purpose built holiday site there is no feeling of intrusion or overcrowding from any of the other lodges. The walk around the Loch is stunning, although don't forget your wellies as it can get a little muddie especially in November! We stayed in conifer 5, which is small but perfectly formed! It had three bedrooms (single, bunk and double), newly refurbished bathroom (one thing to note about the lodges is that the water pressure here is very low),
small gally kitchen with open living and eating area. The veranda off the living area has a step down (quite a step down for small children, although there is a small ramp) onto a large expanse of grass leading down to the Loch. This area is fab for flying kites, games and splashing in puddles!! There is also a small steam running alongside the grass area.

The lodges are obviously very pet friendly, but this is not intrusive. When walking around with the children, the dog owners we encountered were very respectful and brought there dogs to heal or placed them on a lead (this is also requested in the arrival folders).

The reception team were stars from the moment we booked (recommending a lodge that would fit two travel cots etc), during our stay (recommending the fabulous Yann's restaurant in Crieff and scenic drives/day trips) and the after-service (prompt return of deposit). All we had to do was ask:-)

There is also a small spa/treatment room which I used one afternoon which was superb.

To sum up, if you are looking for a safe, relaxing get -a-way with small children in an area that will take your breath away then we really recommend Loch Monzievaird. Happy holiday:-)
