Owner description: Experience Scotland's Oldest Working Distillery Recently named Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year, Scotland's oldest working distillery offers a truly unique and authentic experience to visitors. Set in the heart of Perthshire, the distillery is only an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh.  Making whisky by hand and by heart since 1775, visitors will experience the traditional handmade distilling processes that have been used to craft the whiskies at Glenturret Distillery for generations. Discover how the distillery's Glenturret single malt is carefully blended with other grain and malt whiskies to create the UK's No.1 whisky, The Famous Grouse.  Choose from a range of tour experiences. Sample a selection of fine whiskies in our Tasting Experience, enjoy exclusive entry to our bonded warehouses in the Warehouse Experience and blend your own whisky during an in-depth Blending Experience.  Taste our best in the newly launched Wilde Thyme at Glenturret cafe and restaurant where you will savour mouth-watering dishes created using local, seasonal ingredients including Strathearn Pie, a special dish created in honour of the recent Royal Visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.  And be sure to visit our unique and welcoming shop. We stock a full range of superb single malts and blended whiskies including distillery exclusives such as the Bottle Your Own Glenturret single malt which you can bottle straight from the cask. Whether you are looking for a unique distillery tour, a very special warehouse experience, or even the opportunity to blend your own whisky, Glenturret is the only distillery in Scotland able to offer a truly authentic, traditional whisky making experience.

“Excellent!”

Just got back from a fabulous trip to Scotland and wanted to share my thoughts on our visit to the Famous Grouse Experience.
A lovely place, easy to find and well signposted. Not being Whiskey drinkers isn't a problem (we aren't) it's really interesting. We were shocked just how much time and effort goes in to making this stuff! Well worth the £8.95 (more if you want to sample more whiskeys!). The shop is great, something for everyone, and i was delighted that when we went for a well dsereved cuppa in the lovely cafe/bar upstairs, they had a home made gluten free lemon cake...it was gorgeous. The scots seem to cater better for us gluten free folks. We had a great time here and would highly reccomend a visit. Just a tip, try to time it when there are no coach trips, we were lucky that it was just the two of us. Happy tasting!

“Great place”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

On a recent visit to Scotland my wife and I decided we would like to visit a whiskey distillery. We were not disappointed by our experience. We went on the tour and our guide Keith was excellent in the way he explained the whiskey making process. The shop and bar were first class. Well worth a visit

“The snow, the black and the naked...”
Reviewed February 6, 2013 via mobile

After spending the weekend in Oban and failing to find a distillery open on a Sunday!! (Rather strange we thought!!) we decided to visit the Grouse experience on our way home from our trip. To be perfectly honest we were not hopeful that this would be open but thought at very least the shop would be open. We walked up to the shop to be hurried along by the lovely Marian who said, "are you coming on the tour, quick quick last tour of the day we will wait for you!!" Very excitedly we hurried along and joined the tour. This was not only a lovely surprise but a hugely enjoyable experience by someone who clearly knows her stuff and has excellent customer relations. There were a huge array of people in our group including Italians, brazilians and Finnish and she was very inclusive checking they were understanding and explaining everything. Marian is the perfect lady for this job and in our eyes really made the trip (particularly when the flying grouse in the interactive room would not fly!!!)
We loved the tour and would definitely recommend to anyone!!!

“Very nice new cafe!!”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

We only visited the cafe as we've been on the excellent tour before. The cafe has recently had a makeover with some lovely comfy chairs and a log-effect fire. Coffee & cakes are always a welcome treat when we call in during a dog walk.
The staff were really friendly and insisted that we brought our 2 dogs inside from the cold into the main hallway.
It's on one of our local walks and we always recommend it to our guests at Galvelbeg House B&B
