This is one of the best hotels in the UK I'm yet to stay in. I couldnt have wanted for anything else, everything exceeded my expectations and I had an amazing experience. Ny room was simply divine along with the views of the mountains. This hotel has an enormous amount to offer any guest and is almost like a resort. Food and service was simply outstanding. 5 Stars.

Lovely place, good staff and nice food, we took the kids and they also enjoyed the stables, swimming and the kiddies club. We stayed in a suite which was nicely renovated and large comfortable beds. Its the third stay for me to be honest and I have enjoyed each time, the best parts of the hotel are obviously the elegance of the place and warm staff, the breakfast makes you feel special but what tops it all is a walk around the grounds especially on a calm misty day. For kids you are in the presence of wealthy non kiddy people in the hotel but it is generally big enough to not worry about that too much and the wealth of swimming pools and facilities is outstanding and caters for all, also the free stable tour is excellent and kids club girls are terrific. The only couple of downsides are the out of hours kids club, a good space but too many playstations and not enough for younger kids, the space could be used better with more to do, our kids got bored after 30 mins. The other issue which was the same on my first visit is the pizza restaurant, this provides a good option for families and the meat and fish were delicious but invest in a decent pizza oven the pizzas are terrible! The service could be upped in that area also, although it is fine and their are plenty of staff some training is required on service standards. Two very small glitches on a wonderful hotel, a definite for all types to venture to and enjoy. Although expensive remember you pay for enjoyment and calmness in life and this definitely provides both. I have been to Andrew farlie also and that was very good too.

Room Tip: Book at the last minute, ask for a room at the back, good views and avoid any noise

Went for dinner at Andrew Fairlie's unfortunately the same day BUPA took over the entire hotel. From the outset it was clear the hotel management wasn't interested in those not part of the BUPA gathering. tried to get a pre dinner drink in the bar only to be told by by a hotel staff pusillanimous oik we weren't welcome and that as far as he was concerned 'if you want a drink tonight's a bad night'. In which case all the franchises including Andrew Fairlie's need to take note that Gleneagles isn't helping your businesses and infact seems to be intent on destroying it. This was the second time in 2 years we had had a bad experience at Gleneagles. The first time we booked for lunch only to be told on arrival having travelled for 3 hours that morning the kitchen had caught fire..Basil Fawlty would be proud! However I'm sure there are enough fools who wish to be parted from their cash to keep Gleneagles going. I'm sure all the BUPA guests had a great time but it's a shame it's at the expense of those paying for themselves.

Four retired friends and I (all retired teachers), once a year, spend a weekend in a European City, eg Paris, Rome, Madrid, Nice, Dubrovnik, London etc. this year we decided to do something different and treated ourselves to an overnight stay at Gleneagles for dinner, bed and breakfast and use of spa facilities (we could have gone to Europe for the weekend on what it cost!) - and it was absolutely fabulous. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed, with crisp, white bed linen on the very comfortable beds; fluffy white towels and quality toiletries in the large bathroom ( with two washhand basins) as well as bath/shower. There was also a well stocked courtesy tray, a cold drinks cabinet, the ubiquitous ironing board and iron, the trouser press, the hair dryer and the television.
As one of us was celebrating her birthday we had champaign cocktails and nibbles before exploring the different areas of the hotel, the shopping arcade, and then taking a short stroll through the grounds. However as it was quite damp out we soon returned to our rooms to change for the pool and spa facilities. There is something quite decadent about strolling through the main area of the hotel in white dressing gowns and towelling flip flops (courtesy of the hotel) heading for the spa area whilst other guests and staff are to-ing and fro-ing fully clothed. This area has all been refurbished ( not that I know what it was like before) and the amenities are excellent. There is an outdoor pool/jacuzzi which is very popular, a good-sized indoor pool with smaller jacuzzi and then in a separate area the sauna, steam room, a third jacuzzi, cold shower area, courtesy drinks area and relaxing area with sofas. There are also a variety of the usual relaxation treatments available too though we didn't book any. But wemade use of most other facilities and all gave the whole experience the thumbs up.
We had booked our evening meal at the Michelin starred Andrew Fairlie restaurant - for the tasting menu - which turned out to be such a treat and I would heartily recommend it to anyone. The dining staff were very courteous and attentive throughout the experience and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. A wonderful little quirky delight was, as we were being seated at our table, a little stool was brought beside each chair to hold our handbags. (You can tell I don't get out much - can't you!!).
Breakfast in the morning was mainly buffet, and amazing. There is no other word for it. The choice between hot and cold; the variety within the choices; the fact that there was no need to make choices at all - as one could (and did) try a really little piece of (almost) everything on offer. This made it a very congenial and leisurely drawn-out affair whilst we sat and discussed which luxury establishment we were going to visit next time. We have decided, you see, that as we had enjoyed this so much we were going to forego further cities in Europe and instead enjoy the delights of luxury at home.
There is on thing for sure though, we will definitely do a repeat visit to Gleneagles. So 'thank you' to all the staff of this hotel for helping to give us such an enjoyable and entertaining experience.

This hotel in my opinion is probably the best Hotel in Britain. The service is unbelievable and pretty much everything is perfect. The only hotels that rival this one is the 5 star hotels I have stayed at in Thailand.

The swimming pool area is amazing along with the restaurants and breakfast is second to none. As I have already mentioned the staff are amazing and will go out there way to help and assist.

The only tiny little complaint I had was the hotel in General was very warm. The rooms could have been a little cooler but it wasn't too bad to be perfectly honest.

I will defiantly be back that's for sure

A warm welcome awaits you and service is great. The refurbishment of the pool area is well worth the wait - Olsen Alpine is so special even when it rains. Dinner in Strathearn Suite is faultless with very caring staff and special food and drinks. Very comfortable beds are expertly turned down for you.
However the Buffet Breakfast will need to be revived before the golfers arrive.
Two years ago the chafing dishes were in the main restaurant but have now been relegated to a side room.
Cold plates - lowerator was not switched ON
Fried eggs - rubbery set on a potato scone.
Only one cut your own bread - used to have five different loaves.
Croissants cold.
Aberdeen rowies were inedible.
Sorry to say this spoilt my stay as I was so looking forward to my Breakfast.

We stayed here for our anniversary in March.
Stunning hotel with beautiful surroundings. Staff were courteous and polite and very helpful. We wanted to change around some activities we had booked and they did it without any hassle and kept us informed on how the process was going throughout.
The leisure facilities were fantastic, especially the new pool. The gold tuition we had was great as was the authentic shooting experience we had with our guide Willy.
The room was beautifully decorated and it had a really strong feel of the history of the building but also complimented the scenery outside. The bath was deep and long and was perfect as I'm 6"3.
My only issue was the general prices of the food and drinks in the hotel. I'm not a particularly rich man and visiting Gleneagles was very much a treat for our 2nd anniversary but the prices were very steep. I suppose if you are better off than us you wouldn't bat an eyelid at the figures but I just didn't see the justification in the high prices. That said, the staff during the dining times were fantastic, professional and trained very well and the food itself was delicious. Especially enjoyed the breakfast each morning.
