“Could have stayed here forever”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Won a trip to Gleneagles through my college course after designing a prototype uniform for the head of housekeeping Margeruite. Myself and 2 friends stayed in one of the suites and it was amazing... the Hotel itself is gorgeous and the surroundings are just magnificent. You really do forget about the outside world while staying here. We had cocktails in the bar and they were delish. We had a lovely somellier in Strathern Restaurant who helped us food and wine match our foods as well as digestif's. Breakfast was also a complete delight with there being everything you could want and more!

The wine cellar in the Hotel was also a treat to see, and we enjoyed browsing through all the bottles.

Spa facilities are out of this world. Real 5 star luxury.

Anyone who stays here and doesn't enjoy themselves is mad!

I stayed here two months ago and wrote to the manager subsequently as I didn't want to write an unfair review. I haven't even had the courtesy of a reply, so much for 5 star service! The shower in our room didn't work, a workman then spent 90 minutes in our bedroom. Despite being told there was adult only time in the one working swimming pool it was overrun with children. The radiators in the lounge didn't work. No need to continue.......

Room Tip: Book Andrew Fairlie restaurant if you can, the food is superb.

If you want to experience true 5 star treatment you should look no further than The Gleneagles Hotel. I had a two night stay with my wife, the princess, in December 2012. We traveled by train directly into Auchterarder station. We were met here by a driver from the hotel and taken directly to reception. The scenery is truly stunning and made more so by the early sprinkling of snow. The hotel was made up for Christmas and this made its appearance even more magical.

We had a room on the ground floor overlooking the front of the hotel. The room had its own remote control gas fire and was finished to the highest standard. We dined in The Strathearn restaurant, the food and service was outstanding and worth the cost. The breakfast is a real treat as its nice to take your time and enjoy the fantastic choice on offer.

Its a long way to go but definitely worth it for a special occasion or to experience a true 5 star service.

Gleneagles hotel is a very very good hotel however you are paying top dollar for it and I am not sure it jusifies it. Although I really enjoyed our 2 night stay here it never really gave me the "wow " factor.
The upgraded room we had was good however it was not where it should have been due to renovation of the 2nd floor and as such had no view. It also had an interconnecting door (family room?) to the next room. So the occupants in the next room could be clearly heard at all times.
We ate in the strathearn restaurant on both occasions and the food was good without being spectacular. However the mark up on the wines was indeed spectacular !!
My wife used the Spa facilities and again she was a little bit disappointed with it as some of the facilities were closed due to refurbishment.
The queens golf course we played was very good however the PGA Centenary (Ryder cup 2014) was awesome !!! this is going to be a great course for the Ryder cup.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Gleneagles.

This was a birthday treat for my wife, Bed and Breakfast with Dinner at the Strathearn and a Spa treatment it doesn't get much better than this. Our stay was in January and there was a little snow on the ground which just set the Hotel off, we drove to the door and was met by a couple of kilted gentleman from the Concierge who collected our luggage and parked our car. Reception checked us in and showed us to our room not the most expensive but superb quality none the less with a large bedroom and a bathroom you could live in! We had dinner in the main restaurant which although was large was at the same time very intimate and romantic. All the food was as you would expect was to a very high standard and presented beautifully, service was friendly attentive but not overbearing or stuffy you were made to feel very important and comfortable. The Spa treatments we both had the following morning were superb, high standard, loved the whole experience of the ambience the facilities and the service. Simply a Special experience in what I would describe as my Best Hotel in the World choice!

Room Tip: All good if it is just one night don't be put off by going for a cheaper room you may not get a...

Stayed for a one night break.
The best of the best. From Japan,Australia, America to France etc. etc.
Dinner in the main restaurant was fantastic. The quality of the food, the service and the ambiance. Last time we were there 2011 we dined at Andrew Fairlies. That was really good as well but we both agreed that the main restaurant was better overall.
Mind you, you need deep pockets. But you only get what you pay for.
Recommend the dover sole served at the table. Proper fish!!

Room Tip: Check out your room. Some of them at the back are a bit claustrophobic with no view.
