We have holidayed at The Doocot now on multiple occasions and find it to be perfect for us. It's great to get a one bedroom cottage to stay in with so much character. It's clean, modern and very well equipped and with many personal extra touches from Hilary which we love. The quiet, private grounds are ideal for a very relaxing getaway but also within easy walking distance of the lovely little village of Dunning. Perth and numerous local attractions are within driving distance. This really is the perfect little cottage.

This was our second visit in 5 months which says enough. The surrounding is stunning, quit, and very comfortable. Hilary & Bruce are very nice people and do every thing they can to make your stay successful. If you like golf there is a great 9 holes course on pitching wedge distance away from the Doocot. So do not hesitate if you want to stay in a beautiful place within an hour driving from Edinburgh, Glasgow and 45 mins from St Andrews. We for sure will return.

Fresh veg from the owner's garden and freshly laid eggs from their hens were both nice perks! More generally, the Doocot is a lovely, peaceful place that's a perfect escape for couples.
The Doocot is a short walk from the village of Dunning where the Kirkstyle Inn does tasty lunches. Dunning's local shop is well-stocked and near the village there are quiet woodland walks. You can also eat well in the neighbouring villages of Bridge of Earn and Glenfarg - try the Village Inn and the Bein Inn respectively. Both villages are just a short drive away.
The City of Perth takes no time to drive to from the Doocot - either via the dual carriageway or by the scenic route via Bridge of Earn. Perth has a great cinema, great restaurants - the Grand Italia is a particular highlight - and plenty of scope for shopping.
So the Doocot works equally well as a base for daily exploration of Perthshire or as a nice place to spend a lazy holiday with all the essentials within walking distance. The owners are really friendly when you bump into them, but at the same time the Doocot offers complete seclusion and privacy.
Stayed at The Studio for five nights , the owners were on holiday themselves so, alas, didn't get chance to meet them but we did meet Val, their housekeeper, who was so friendly.
The cottage is only 15 miles west of Perth and really easy to find, on arrival we found the fresh scones and home made jam waiting for us. The Studio is finished to a very high standard, the shower, in particular is superb and quite large, the under floor heating is a welcome touch too. The bed, as advertised is enormous and the views are so peaceful and relaxing. One thing to note the kitchen is exactly as advertised, i.e. there is no oven, just a microwave but this wasn't a problem as we ate out everyday.
The location is fantastic, we did Glencoe, Fort William and the southern reaches of Loch Ness all in one day and were still back by early evening, Edinburgh is less than an hour away and St Andrews about 45 minutes.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Studio to anyone its an absolute gem and know I will go back there again.
We stayed in this cottage the last week of August and had a lovely time. The cottage is very well appointed and the owner couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. It's really light and airy with excellent views of the countryside, and also cosy and warm. And it's beautifully situated in really pretty garden, in a peaceful area close to an interesting village with facilities, and close to a good road network. Everything we needed was thought of and provided by the owner for a great stay.

We stayed in the 'Studio' for 3 nights, having spent the previous 4 weeks visiting family and friends our intention was to get away from it all for a few nights with our 10 week old baby, we could not have picked a better location!!
The studio which is attached to the main house had everything we needed, a great modern living area with super comfy bed and a lovely bathroom with waterfall shower.
The location was perfect for us, very quiet and peaceful with endless views of the beautiful Perthshire countryside from our window. Auchterarder and Perth were only a short drive away, providing plenty of options for cafes and restaurants should you need refreshed!!
Thanks Hilary!!
This was our second stay at the Doocot. It is still wonderful. Cosy and Romantic with everything we need to be comfortable. Looks small when one first walks in but there is plenty of closet space and it all works. I love the views of the ancient Doocot (sort of a stone barn tower for keeping doves in), the trees, fields and hills. Gleneagles and Auchterader are only a short distance by car, St Andrews about one hour. We cooked our own breakfast; love the fresh eggs, and walked to the Village of Dunning to the Pub for dinner, about 5 - 10 minutes. There are two Pubs both with very good food. It's a long way from Australia but no doubt we'll be back.
