Description: A wee gem of a place, cafe within the bookshop. Excellent coffees and wide range of specialist teas. Very tasty soups and sandwiches. Well worth a visit if only to browse the books and music.

“What a find!”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

During a dreadful snowy day, when most places in Aberfeldy were closed, we visited the Watermill cafe. What a gem. A bowl of butternut and chilli soup was just what was needed, and a short break for 'something to eat' lasted for three hours while we browsed the wonderful book shop and the art exhibition. The owner was on hand with lots of information about the exhibits and the time just flew. Don't miss this lovely place if you are in Aberfeldy - and also don't miss the lovely cakes in the cafe.

“An oasis of culture”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

If you want to know where the intelligentsia of Aberfeldy hang out - go to the Watermill. It's quite pricey (about £6 for a sandwich) but you can sit all day, browse books and magazines, or go upstairs for a look at the art gallery. Very nice atmosphere, great cake, and good service. And a proper cup of coffee. Parking a bit squeezed but you can usually find a space.

“Superb!”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

A truly delightful cafe where the service is excellent yet the ambiance is relaxing and unhurried. Lovely leather sofas and armchairs, occasional tables as well as 'rustic' tables and chairs, tasteful lighting, leaf tea in a pot with each cup having its own strainer, gorgeous cakes and excellent value. I was there on a bitterly cold afternoon but the cafe was warm and inviting. On a nice day one can sit outside on the terrace overlooking the stream. Access to the cafe is through the bookshop and down several flights of steps, but you can also get in from the terrace without having to go through the bookshop. A 'must' for anyone visiting Aberfeldy as it appears popular with locals, too.

“A disappointing letdown”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

A busy bookshop with a cafe is to me an ideal place to stop for coffee or lunch, so that's what I did. Unfortunately it didn't impress me at all. I had to wait for ages and then went up to the counter to ask to be served. Service was slow and disinterested. The options were expensive and not particularly inspiring, so I just had soup which was ok. The person who cleared away didn't ask if I wanted anything else. So I passed on cake. It's a nice setting but they need to sharpen up their act and get some imagination into the menu, which I think is overpriced and unimaginative.

“A real winner”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

Went three times during a recent stay in Aberfeldy. Consistently good and friendly service. Only went for tea and cake but the range and quality of teas was the best I've experienced for a long time. You need to get there early to get a prime seat in a really nice atmosphere. Separate area for children so adults can relax without interruption. Buggies can present a problem but there is an outside part where they can be left. The integrated book shop just completes the visit which I think makes for a unique experience, unless of course if you live there!
