Spent a weekend with the family in Croftness Cottage. Laura and family could not be more accommodating and friendly. The traditional cottage is exceptionally well renovated and everything you need is there. Both bedrooms en-suite with TV's, Kitchen bright and modern, Living room is spacious and with the fire lit we had a fantastic couple of nights relaxing by the fire whilst the snow came down.
Aberfeldy is a great area for a family break with loads to do for kids all very close to the cottages which are only 10/15min walk to the shops and pubs. Loch Tay at Kenmore is just 10 minutes drive and good to exercise the kids. Weem Woods another 5/10 minute drive just outside Aberfeldy.
We’ve just returned from our stay at Croftness Cottage over the Christmas week and it’s safe to say that neither of us wanted to leave.
The cottage is in a lovely quiet location just above the town of Aberfeldy but only a 10 minute walk to the centre, where you can either get something to eat and drink or buy essentials at the Co-Op. Our favourites are the Habitat Cafe in the square, who do a fantastic burger and also MacDonald Brothers Butchers who sell great venison pies.
The cottage itself retains its original charm but has been tastefully modernised to make it extremely comfortable and cozy. We especially loved the bathrooms but all the rooms were great. On arrival the cottage was exceptionally clean and well maintained, which is really puts you at ease in knowing the owners care about their guests.
Laura was always on hand if needed but never intrusive. The cottage was decorated for Christmas in a nice understated way. Some people come away at Christmas to avoid festivities and some people to celebrate, so a nice tree, lovely wreath on the entrance door and tasteful decorations got the right balance. We loved it. Having an unlimited supply of logs for the wood burner is a really useful touch, as the hassle of buying and transporting logs always detracts from the pleasure of a wood burner. We really liked that.
During the week we mainly went on local walks in the Tay forest but also visited Perth and went on a longer drive to the Balmoral estate, which was the highlight.
We intend to return in the near future.

We were very comfortable in Croftness Cottage, a comfortable and restful place to get away from things; but not too far from Aberfeldy’s good cafés and the shelves of the Watermill! Laura was really helpful and great at keeping in touch, including when we had to change our plans. Would love to come back!
We were lucky to have been the first guests to stay in this exquisite property. Having previously stayed in the cottage last summer we knew the conversion would be done to a very high standard and we were not disappointed!
The house is beautifully designed and the setting was just so peaceful & tranquil. Laura took time out to show us around the property which was a lovely touch. The weather was fabulous so we didn’t really utilise the hot tub that much however; it’ll really come into its own in the colder weather. The garden was big & spacious and the landscaping first class. We’ve had such an amazing week’s holiday we really didn’t want to leave. Will definitely be back next year if not before then. A true gem of a property!
We stayed in The Bothy, a one bedroom cottage which adjoins The Croftness Cottage, for a week with our dog, Gracie.
The cottage and surroundings are idyllic!!! The Bothy is beautifully decorated and furnished and it's obvious the owners have paid great attention to detail. The patio area is tidy and looks out onto some stunning views, it was lovely to sit out in the evening with a glass (or two) of wine!!
The cottage is centrally heated and also has a gorgeous period fire with a plentiful supply of logs ( although it wasn't all that cold we felt we had to light the fire at least once just for the atmosphere).
Aberfeldy is just a few minutes walk away and The Birks of Aberfeldy even closer (plenty of red squirrels to be seen early in the morning).
Laura was most helpful before our stay, providing information and there is a wealth of leaflets etc in the cottage about where to go and what to do.
We will definitely return to The Bothy next year.
