We love Moness and have been using our points to book cottages/cabins for many years. This time, we took advantage of a deal and booked two nights in the hotel - room 27 - we were intrigued to read Jim's review while there! The floor boards definitely DO still squeak! Although the room was lovely, clean, warm and comfortable. The bathroom too was excellent, with a wonderful bath and super shower. Breakfast was good although staff seemed somewhat unsure of who was responsible for what at times! Reception staff were very helpful. We chose to eat in the restaurant - for the first time ever - and the last! The restaurant was completely lacking in atmosphere - bright lights and quite loud music. Much could have been improved with dimmed lights and candles or the like on tables - and background music! Service - oh dear - the two waiters tried but just lacked some training perhaps! For two courses including steak, one glass of wine and a coke the bill was £61. We had a fabulous meal at The Inn on The Tay the night before for substantially less! Yes we will definitely return to Moness as it is one of our favourite locations but we won't be eating in the restaurant!

Bought a groupon voucher for this. Very reasonable price. Lovely twin room. Spotless. Breakfast was superb. Wide variety of amenities. The restaurant was great. £22 for two courses. Possibly the best meal we have had in a while and we eat out a lot. The terrace bar was disappointing. It lacked atmosphere and was a little run down so we chose not to go. The 'spa' is not really a spa. It has a very small pool, a hot tub, sauna etc but is a bit run down too. The pool was not big enough to properly swim and there were a lot of kids. It also opened a little late (8.30), and breakfast was only served between 8 and 10 meaning we could not swim before breakfast (we are two ladies who like to have our hair and face done before going anywhere). We had treatments with the beauty therapist. I had a facial and mum had a back massage. It was great! However, it was more pricey than a standard beauty salon. The staff were great and the atmosphere in General was good. I'd recommend this place to others but not as a spa (or as a hotel with spa access). It is more a family resort. I think they should consider changing tier advertising on groupon to reflect this.

Stayed last week at the Moness resort 4 nights in the hotel with breakfast included on a Living Social offer. Overall we enjoyed our stay there. The room was pleasant although for a 4 star resort I would've expected a bath. Our bathroom was big but only had a shower. After walking up & down Ben Nevis freezing cold all I really wanted to do was soak in a hot bath. The tv in the room was complicated to get on & to work until you had had a few goes and got used to what you needed to do with it. Could be made simpler I feel.
It was in a good location about 10minutes walk into Aberfeldy and the pool, sauna, hot tub and steam room were good and generally nice and quiet.
Didn't use the spa so can't comment on that. Didn't eat there either apart from breakfast which was fine. Only thing I would have said about breakfast is that they could've done with some fresh bread rolls and cheese for the continental selection.

Thank you for your review and for your feedback. It is unfortunate that you were not allocated one of many rooms that do have a bath, we would have course changed your rooms had we known of your requirement despite this we are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us overall, thank you once again.

I recently stayed at Moness Resort in August/September for a week. I stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage. In a lovely location the unit was a good size with all that we needed. Once you flipped the switch to turn on the hot water (it takes about an hour to heat) we were set. We did have trouble with the tv but after phoning reception, they promptly sent someone to fix it and we never had a problem with it after that. We didn't swim but that was our choice, so I cannot review the pool/spa. We did have meals, take-away as well as going to the restaurant. Both meals were very nice and the service was good. It was a quiet spot, even on a weekend with a wedding happening. It was great to have wifi even if at times it was slow. Down side is the road is not wide enough for 2 cars. It was quiet I would stay again and recommend to others.

We are day one into a two day stay and very quickly have realised this is not the place for us. The resort is very family oriented, which is fine, but should NOT market itself as peaceful and tranquil (full of screaming kids, facilities very much geared towards families giving it a 'holiday camp' feel). Peaceful and tranquil it most certainly isn't. Very disappointed, and despite coming here to celebrate a special event we will probably not be sticking around.

We are sorry to read that your stay was not as expected. We are lucky to be located in a very peaceful and tranquil part of Scotland and whilst many of our visitors enjoy a relaxing break here, are we are a family friendly resort and half term always proves popular, I'm sorry you visited at this particularly busy time.

Stayed Saturday night and the whole experience was flawless. From check in to breakfast and check out the place was great and I thoroughly recommend the resort. Breakfast was great, the eggs Benedict are totally scrummy.

We bought a Groupon deal for a two night break at Moness Resort and were so happy that we did! The Resort is situated within lush green grounds with the most adorable Duck pond ( I am easily pleased...lol) Our accomodation was very clean and tidy with bath and shower en suite. We ate in the terrace bar which has tasty bar type food which was lovely and is also reasonably priced. staff were friendly and helpful. We do not drive but getting to Moness was very easy. We travelled by train from Edinburgh to Pitlochry, then we got the number 24 Stagecoach bus from Pitlochry to Ballanuig, then transfer to number 23 Stagecoach from Ballanuig to Aberfeldy. We would definitely visit here again, great chilled out break!!!!!!
