Me and my partner have just arrived back in Glasgow after staying 2 nights here at the Moness Country Resort in Aberfeldy, We got a great deal for 2 nights through groupon back in November for our 1 year anniversary.
We had previously checked the weather forecast for our arrival, and was told to be prepared for heavy rain, however when we were about 10 miles away we were met with heavy snow, which was better weather than rain.
The staff were extremely polite and helpful when we arrived and after finding our room we were welcomed with a big spacious double bedroom with a large en-suite bathroom.
We had a few drinks in the bar at the terrace, and was told to try out the local pubs for food and more drinks.
We ended up at a lovely pub called the fountain which done very nice and cheap food, and after a few drinks we headed home. We loved the bed, wasnt too soft or too hard, and having freeview on the television was great to relax.
On our first full day at the resort, we had breakfast within the hotel, nothing to complain about at all, the service was great and food was delicious!
Then we done an hour and a half walk to the Birks of Aberfeldy, which was more challenging in the 6 inches of snow we had.
I much preferred the snow, as it gave such a romantic feel to the whole hotel during the weekend.
The bonus for me was after our long walk around the Birks and through town, we could then go into the swimming section of the hotel, have a swim, sauna, steam room and best of all was the hot tub that managed to take away any stress that we have had from work.
That evening we had our meal in the Terrace restaurant, and was lovely, however, i had opted for the goats cheese with apple jam in a sandwich for a starter which ended up being bigger than expected and my partner for chicken skewers and only can with 3 when we were expecting at least 5. We then had a great large sharing platter which had everything amazing to eat.
Decided to head back into town for more drinks and possibly live music, but when we got to the pubs they were empty so decided to go back to the room, relax and watch a movie in bed.
The only downside to the trip was that during our last night at the hotel at 2:15am the fire alarm went off, all the guest had made their way outside, and after a while of waiting around, my partner and i decided to check the reception area to find out what to do, however, reception was closed and there were no hotel staff around to help us out, and it didnt help that no-one had phone signal incase it was a real emergency. After a while of standing outside in the snow, the alarm finally went off, and we decided to go back to our room without any guidance.
Our last morning, breakfast was amazing as the previous day and having a check out time at 11am meant we could squeeze in another session of the hot tub and steam room, to help waken us up a bit after having a rocky nights sleep that night.
After asking the receptionist about what caused the alarm, it was someone spraying deodrant too close to the smoke detector. So that was a lesson well learnt for next time we come back.
On the way towards the hotel we had taken the back roads through creiff, but were told due to the snow it was best to head for perth then back to glasgow due to the weather conditions. But we would certainly come back to this hotel. Lovely Staff, Great facilties and a wonferful modern, comfy room.
Couldnt complain about one bit of our journey!
Thank you for such a great anniversary weekend.
