This wasn't the first time I've taken my younger brother (now 9 years old) to Amazonia, but since it consistently delivers a good couple of hours of entertainment I thought it was time I write a review.
Great place – can thoroughly recommend it. It’s basically an indoor tropical mini-zoo. Various animals, from caimans to turtles, from monkeys to tarantulas. Sometimes, and I’m afraid you don’t really find out until you get there, it’s feeding time for a certain cage/tank and a ‘keeper’ will allow people to crowd round and give a short talk on the animal’s behaviour & habits.
However, the best bit – and something which is extremely good value for money – is the handling session. It only costs something like an extra £1 per person, and for that you crowd round a counter in a separate room and a keeper will bring 3-5 animals out of the tanks for people to hold and touch. For a few pounds more you can sit on the throne and have your photo taken. The Animals for this usually consist of a lizard, a snake and a spider (big hairy ones you need to wear goggles for!).
I thoroughly recommend this place. The fact that you can waste a couple more hours – and several more £££ - in the M&D theme park this is housed within just makes it more convenient.
