“Pleasant experience but not one I ll return to”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

Setting lovely, decor beautifully modernised. Bar area cramped with little atmosphere. Staff ok but hardly accommodating.....perfunctory in my opinion. Bar menu ok and food ok. Nothing special. Venue seems popular which is great to see. Not my kind of place so I won't return. Nothing wrong but personal preference.

This is a beautiful mdoern seafront hotel. The staff were very professional and polite. We ate in the restaurant which had a relaxed bar feel looking out to the sea. Food quality was fantastic especially the steak pie! - very good value for money. Would highly recommend to families, couples and groups.

I recently attended an all day training event at the Brisbane House hotel. The venue was perfect with lots of space, great views out over Largs front and very friendly staff. All our needs were catered for without fuss including a very delicious lunch. I would recomend this to anyone looking to host a corporate event in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Room Tip: Large conference area with great views, roomy and bright.

I had an issue with customer relations in this hotel but I found most of the receptionists very helpful and couldn,t have done anymore to help me,,, however the same cannot be said for the manager Martin Scollay, who i found to be the rudest most condescending , over familiar person i have ever had the misfortune to deal with .
I have been in lots of hotels and never experienced anything like this treatment before and never hope to again !!!
I have lost out on an overnight stay due to being misinformed by various members of staff and i would suggest they have to get their act together and get some staff training in place , resulting in all staff singing from the same hymn sheet...

To give readers some background to the above review:
The Brisbane House took part in a Groupon offer £69DBB plus wine available from 6th November 2012 until 6th April 2013. Offer valid from Sunday to Thursday.
As a courtesy I permitted that this offer be extended until 30th April 2013 to allow those who had purchased vouchers a chance for an acceptable date.
This individual original booked in January 2013, then cancelled, then rebooked for a date we could not accommodate, so as a courtesy we permitted usage on a Friday (validity Sun-Thurs). Again this was cancelled. The individual then tried to rebook for yet another Friday 17th May. She was advised by myself that this was not only outwith the validity but also more than a month after the offer expired and therefore the hotel could not accept her booking.
I hope all rightminded customers understands the hotel went more than necessary to assist this customer.

We have often walked past the Brisbane Hotel in Largs, a traditional building with an attractive extension and open verandah decking to the front and wondered what the hotel would be like to stay in.

We recently took advantage of a Groupon voucher and stayed overnight on the 21st April. We were well disposed towards the hotel before we arrived as reception had previously agreed to extend the validity of our voucher by a few weeks. We found all the staff helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. We were aware that our room [107] was a standard double to the rear of the building. The room was nicely decorated, although the en-suite was dated with the window obscured as it overlooked a service yard and plant/boiler room.

Although our first impression was that the room was adequate for a short stay we later found that this room should be avoided as it became oppressively warm [ presumable due to the plant room below] and we were forced to keep the window open and endure the noise of the plant room throughout the night.

Dinner and breakfast was good with the restaurant / bar areas of modern design although a little reminiscent of a refectory eating. The hotel's biggest asset is its prime location in Largs and its view overlooking the promenade and sea. Nothing could be nicer on a warm day than to imagine having a drink or meal on the verandah decking [or in the front of the restaurant] and taking in the view.

Overall our visit was enjoyable but we would recommend a front facing bedroom.

Room Tip: Book a front facing bedroom

Whilst working in Glasgow a colleague (who lives in Largs!) recommended this hotel. not great for Glasgow but good for sampling the local Largs nightlife after a long day at work.

The hotel was great and although the room felt a little dated I didn't have any complaints - everything worked, the bed was fine and the restaurant / bar were great. If I stay in Largs this will be my first point of call, though admittedly it's a little far for Glasgow!
