I felt the Cherry Orchard was let down by the waiting staff, who displayed a could'nt care less attitude, which puts me off returning.

This bistro in the centre of West Kilbride is tucked between the Post Office and the Spar in Orchard Street. The wide windows belie the warm interior where the staff are friendly. Nobody ever feels rushed or unwelcome. The food fresh and tasty and the home made soups, scones and cakes are all delicious. The locals support the bistro well throughout the day. This is always a good sign. Whether it be for a breakfast roll and coffee to go; a relaxed coffee and scone mid-morning to put the world to rights; a delicious light lunch; afternoon tea and a piece of cake or an evening meal taking advantage of the reasonable corkage charges: this is a local little gem. The worst kept secret in the village!

My husband and I went for dinner last Friday at the Cherry Orchard West Kilbride and all I can say what a delight. We had pate and haggis to start which were very good indeed. For mains I had chicken stuffed with haggis also a choice of sauce accompanied this my husband opted for the strips of beef in peppercorn sauce all served with fresh vegetables. To finish I could not resist the pineapple upside down cake and hubby had a traybake which he chose from the vast selection on display in the cabinet all home made on the premises fab.
The Cherry Orchard allows you to take in your own wine a small charge of £2.00 for corkage which is great. I hate going to places that sell you wine which is always overpriced. This is one of these little places you sometimes find where the staff are friendly and very attentive .
The chef has not gone down the route of selling cheap mass produced dishes which so many places seem to do these days. Instead the food is fresh good quality cooked to order but at the same time reasonibly priced.
This is a small intimate cafe/bistro which has just recently extended its opening hours and now caters for dinners on a Friday and Satuarday night.
This little gem is not trying to be something it is not.
If you are looking for a small intimate setting with good service and great food then this is the place to go.
