To start off with: This is a very, very nice house run by a very nice woman: Frances Reddy, It is a true bargain in the great and scenic town of Lossiemouth.
To start with I will run through the various categories and my ratings.
SERVICE: Definately above standard service by Frances. She does have personal responsibilites that might prevent her from lavishing as much attention on her guests as she might wish, but her heart is there. 4 STARS ****
VALUE: For £55 per night for 2 people this property is an excellent value! 5 STARS ******
SLEEP QUALITY: Above average. But be aware that the fine forces of the RAF will do their best to make sure that nobody in Lossiemouth is 'caught napping' ... literally. The "Jets of British Freedom" roar non-stop all day and there is no sleeping in for slackers! LOL. Of course no B&B in the whole town is exempt from this between the hours of 8am and 8pm. 4 STARS ****
CLEANLINESS: The whole place is spotless inside and out! 5 STARS *****
LOCATION: The town of Lossiemouth is really wonderful. Quaint old houses line the streets making for a photographers paradise. 5 STARS *****
GROUNDS: I have NEVER seen a nicer garden anywhere in the British Isles! Grand Ol' 'Liz should come pay a visit to see how it's done properly! Immaculate would be an understatement! The off-road car park is suitable for 5 cars maximum so if you are the latecomer you might just have to park on the road but that is no big deal. 5 STARS!!! *****
ROOMS: Very nicely done. We stayed in the "Family Room" (#5) and it was extremely well furnished with a nice large bed and another smaller bed. There is a sofa, chair, and an end table along with nice little window seats at each of the windows (3). The little gas 'fireplace' was also a nice touch. 5 STARS *****
BREAKFAST: Above average. 4 STARS ****
OVERALL: A very nice accomodation easily worthy of 4 STARS. There are just a couple of items that one should be aware of that, in my opinion only, keep it from that 5 star range.
There is no guest lounge.
In the room we had, at least, the beds are hard as rocks. This might be fine for those that desire such, but for us other wimps don't expect a soft comfortable mattress. There are electric warming pads on the mattresses but they don't seem to work anymore ... but Frances may not be aware of that.
Also be aware that Frances rolls up the carpets precisely at 9:30 pm ... in other words: the door is locked, all the common area lights are shut off, and the drawbridge is raised. Be on time or suffer! It's just like being back in Boarding School again. LOL So, a word to others that might be chronic 'night owls' like me: take a torch with you and request instructions from Francis on how to operate the door locks with the key she provides. (I never could figure it out ... maybe because it was too dark???)
But mainly: Thanks, Frances for the two very nice nights! We greatly appreciated your hospitality!
