My friend and I stayed here for one night whilst travelling around whisky country and we didn't want to leave! It's a beautiful setting with incredibly warm and welcoming staff. The rooms are huge bar Euro standards with gorgeous furnishings. The cozy bar has an incredible selection of whisky and a very knowledgeable barman that made great recommendations. We will definitely stay for longer next time!

Dear Meg 331

Thank you for your review, Forres is on the Western gateway to Speyside Whisky Trail, with Benromach and Dallas Dhu distilleries locally but there are many more not too far away. Our team love making suggestions in our Malt Library and I hope they did not lead you astray!

Stayed at the above hotel, excelent offer, had a realy enjoyable two nights ' food '5 star' staff realy friendly could not do enough for you to make your stay most enjoyable, when you find a hotel of this standard -- who cares about the weather.

We shall return to Kockomie sooner than later.

Room Tip: The room we were in suited us.

Stayed at the Knockomie Hotel having taken advantage of an itison offer for 2 nights B&B and had a wonderful weekend. The hotel has a lovely cosy atmosphere and the staff provide really excellent service which can be so hard to come by. Helpful and welcoming, but without being obtrusive. Had a couple of beautiful steaks in the restaurant and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Only slight criticism was the water pressure in the shower was a bit low and the bathroom decor was a bit tired, but these was pretty minor. Our overall experience was very good and we would definitely return to take advantage of any future offers.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights with our two dogs and had a relaxed and enjoyable break. The location is perfect for exploring the north east with Inverness, The Malt Whisky Trail and even as far afield as Thurso and Wick within easy driving distance. Forres itself is also lovely and right on your doorstep.

The rooms are slightly dated, but comfortable, warm and good size with everything you need (apart from an iron which was provided to us on request).

The restaurant and bar are definitely worth a visit. The bar was cosy and relaxed and the evening meal we had in the restaurant was fabulous, if a little overpriced (two mains, a glass of wine, soft drink and two coffees @ £34...great food though). After dinner we sat in the lounge with coffee and played chess!

The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful with all requests put their way.

This is an ideal getaway for couples who want cosy, peaceful surroundings and plenty of picturesque places to visit

We we looking for a place to go for the weekend when the itison deal for Knockomie came through. We read the reviews on here and thought we would go for it. It all started really well, beautiful grounds, very welcoming on arrival we were shown to our room.

The room was nice, some things a little tired but overall pretty nice. Our room was on the ground floor with views over the gardens. Doors from the room open onto the garden which would be lovely in the summer.

Our room was the first room in the new wing therefore you did often hear the doors closing and people going through to their rooms but it wasn't too bad!

Breakfast on the first morning was lovely - excellent service and a lovely selection although some additions to the full breakfast would be welcomed....potato scones, hash browns, fruit pudding, beans etc....

One surprise for me was to see in the hotel information pack in the room was reference to being charged corkage for opening your own bottle of wine in your room....not that we did but I was extremely surprised to see that!

Breakfast on the second morning was very different from the first morning. Food was just as nice however the service was not. The hotel didn't appear so busy so we were sitting waiting for some time before being served.

Check out was 11am and at 10.30 someone tried to come into our room, I assume for housekeeping. In a small hotel I would assume it would be easy to see that we hadn't checked out. It felt like we we were being rushed away.

Finally on check out, we passed a couple of members of staff who clearly saw us with our luggage and after waiting for 10 minutes (and having pressed the call button twice) with no response to finalise our check out we just laid our key in the office and left. The hotel had my credit card number for any charges anyway.

It took another 10 minutes after leaving before the hotel called me advising that they had been on the phone in the kitchen and couldn't come through. That would suggest that the person on the phone was more important than the person who was in the premises! I am sure it would not have been an issue to ask someone to pop through and advise of the situation.

Overall it was a nice stay. I can't comment either way whether I would return in the future.
