Stayed nearby and we used this pub to relax most nights. I personally can not understand the previous slightly negative reviews. To begin with the location is brilliant during the day the views of the bay are excellent and in the evening its warm cosy welcoming atmosphere draws you in.

The staff working are extremly pleasent, the young girl working behind the bar most nights was friendly, kind and helpful delievering excellent service both friendly and profressional she was a credit to herself and her boss.

The food was amazing during the visits my friends and I between us must of eaten the whole menu every dish was prepared fantatsic and tasted excellent we sent our credits to the chefs most nights and i would recomend eating here if in the area.

All in all Staff, selection of drinks, atmosphere, location and food absolutley fantastic wish it was my local!

Must have been the worst valentines meal ever. When it did finally arrive I had to refuse to eat it. The owner/ waitress refused to acknoledge anything wrong but later we found out the bad chef was her son! We also refused to pay and since we were staying in the hotel which was rather dated we went to bed. In the morning I noticed a van was 'broken down' directy in front of my car and blocking it in! Little did the owner know that I knew the van driver and he had been asked by her to inconvenience us! If you want a pleasant stay in the lovely Findhorn book into another hotel.

We booked this particular place as we wanted to stay in Findhorn itself. Arrived around 3pm and couldn’t get in as apparently check in time is 4pm. That said, there was no problem as the room was ready and the owner was quite happy to check us in. The room we stayed in (6) was fine and had all we needed, although the hand basin was in the room itself and not in the shower room this didn’t bother us too much. Further to previous comments, the wardrobe was a bit bizarre but so what there was plenty of drawer space! I think you have to remember that this Inn was built in 1739 and we liked the fact that it was quirky and had character. All right, it may not have made a 5 star rating but we liked it. The room was clean and we had a window facing the bay.

Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Can’t comment on evening meals as we didn’t eat here but it was always busy. We ate at the Kimberley because we could take that dog in the bar with us without any problem.

I liked the check-out system here. Settle your bill the night before, leave your key in the door and go when you are ready.

As for the owner, he was a bit brusque but not rude and we had no problems with either him or the rest of the staff. All in all, had a nice break in Findhorn and would probably go back to the Crown & Anchor for a short break. A clean comfy bed, a good breakfast and easy access is on offer at the Crown & Anchor and that was what we were looking for. Enjoy.

Room Tip: only stayed here once and were given room 6 as we had a dog with us.

We stayed three night at the Crown & Anchor Inn. We had a room with a wonderful view on the Findhorn Bay. The rooms were okay. Thankfully well insulated and warm as the weather was horrible. The evening meal was the best I had during our visit to Scotland. The bar has a lovely woodstove and there is good choice of beers and a nice service. The breakfast could be improved.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view on the Findhorn Bay

The owner of this inn seemed troubled by our having two children (hardly babies, 11 and 14!) with us as the inn has no eating area separate from the bar area. We stressed that we would be gone by the 8pm curfew and were given a table. Nice food, good variety of dishes on the menu and reasonably priced. A little smiley service would go a long way though!
