What a house! It gets better every year we go. We have three families of 4 staying in it and it copes perfectly, especially on wet days! Plenty for kids to do and explore in the ample, safe garden. Deck chair for parents to relax in! Everything is so well thought out. Well equipped kitchen, drying room now with a heater for wet clothes, 3 showers and toilets, board games/drawing/books for kids, large dining table that extends to fit all, stair gate for little ones, comfy beds/cot and very clean all over. A new addition this year was Sky Cinema! Not what we normally use when we come to arran but perfect for rainy days when the children need some down time. FABULOUS house!
12 family members on our holiday. Had a fantastic chilled out holiday. All you need in a beautiful big house which the children loved. We all made good use of the spectacular garden in such gorgeous sunny weather. Host Jackie very helpful and keeps in touch just to check everything okay. Didn't want to leave. A memorable family get together. Thank you.
A group of 12 of us booked Helenslea for Hogmanay. All communication with Jackie was great; she was extremely accommodating and informative, and made the whole process very easy. The house is beautiful, very spacious for 12 people, with modern and clean bathrooms, a huge and cosy lounge with a coal fire and amazing views to the beach, an also huge garden, an extremely well equipped kitchen, in a great location close to cafés, galleries, pub, etc. It was perfect! Everything we needed was provided. I would not hesitate to recommend it and I hope we can come and stay again soon (maybe in the summer next time, I bet garden would be beautiful...).
Thank you so much!
We had a very comfortable and happy time celebrating our daughters 21st with a group of her friends. Jackie (the owner) was very accommodating, made us feel very welcome and helped with info on shopping for provisions etc.. She even helped with local bus information as some of the party traveld by train so had no car.
There was plenty of comfortable space for us all. A well equipped kitchen and extendable dinning table for big shared meals. Large sitting room with lots of seating and a working log fire, not to mention the views out to sea!
There are lots of walks from the house, as well as a cafe, small shop and a restaurant, so no need to always get the car out!
We were made to feel extremely welcome and would defiantly book again.
An amazing house in beautiful, large gardens with sea and inland views. The house was very well-appointed and extremely comfortable with plenty of room for our large party aged 5 months to 74 years. Jackie was very helpful with our questions about the layout of the bedrooms before booking, twin/zip-and-link bed options and with a radiator problem at the beginning of our stay. The weather was wonderful and we enjoyed the outside sitting area for reading, chatting and eating whilst the children enjoyed Hector's House, the putting green and the ample space for exploring, hide and seek etc. Plenty of walking from the house ( we did the waterfall walk from the shore end) and along the beach. Great steaks at Felicity's at their Thursday steak night; coffee and cakes at the Coffee Pot; icecreams at 'the blue shop' at the north end of Whiting Bay. That's just local! The rest of the island is beautiful and needs another visit or two to do it justice!
