We went for lunch on an out of season Monday.... usually not the best time in Arran to get the best service and a hearty lunch. We were so lucky. The lovely hostess confessed that chef wasn't due to start till 3.00 pm (we arrived at 1.30 pm) but she was more than happy to try and cater for us... and she did. We were staying self catering locally and wanted to treat ourselves (four adults, one child and a baby) to lunch to fortify us for our long journey home.
Hubby had been in on the Friday, and Sunday - with other family - apparently had a ball on the Sunday... - if you enjoy live music he says go - I was left with sick sleepy baby - and he now considered this his temporary local. He wanted to share his local with me.... bless him. We were very much fortified.... our locally sourced gammon steaks were just perfect, my daughter's steak pie - locally sourced again - (had to try a bit) was totally fulfilling, burgers, soup, sandwiches all spot on. ................Oh, and the chips!! not usually a chip fan but we should have ordered extra portions.
As with anywhere on Arran expect to pay a minimum of £10 for any main. When we were in the Eden Lodge on the Monday it was very quiet so the atmosphere was non existent, but it was clean, bright and I quite enjoyed that we pretty much had the place to ourselves. My daughter tells me the Sunday was the opposite. It was jumping then. I wish I had been able to go on the Sunday. Now getting seriously nagged by hubby to arrange a visit to stay. Think we will. xxxxx
