On a day out with my mother, we fancied a light lunch so decided to stop at coast- this light lunch became a day of nibbling. On entry to the restaurant you are greeted by a team of smiles, we were sat in the conservatory which has sea view, you are basically sat on the beach! We ordered a 'coast sharing platter for 2' which is huge; chorizo, hot smoked salmon, Arran cheeses, Arran chutneys and much more locally produced ingredients we sat nibbling for hours just looking on to the sea- but with the relaxed atmosphere we felt as if we could stay forever.

On stopping here we immediately noticed the tunnocks caramel wafer picture on the wall, quirky and Scottish, just like the owner. He was lovely, warm and good to chat to, and the service was friendly and with a smile!

Great views in the conservatory, even on such a blustery day, we had a 5hr delay for the ferry. I had the pasta and the sauce was amazing, Rick enjoyed the chilli bowl and our son had the biggest bowl of home-made hummous and pitta bread all for really reasonable prices. Would have loved to have tried the amazing looking cakes on display. A reason, like Glenashdale falls, to come back to the Island.

We stopped at this restaurant for drinks late morning on the bankholiday Monday. Attracted by the good write up in the Island guidebook and it's location and conservatory almost on the beach!
We agreed to sit on the terrace as the conservatory was full but moved inside when it started to rain and a two person table became free. Still we waited to be served. After half an hour I caught the waiters attention as he had been ignoring us.It still took some time to produce a pot of tea and a bottle of mineral; water and was served with great indifference. I'm glad that we were not waiting for a meal!
Compare this to the Cruize restaurant at the Auchrannie resort in Brodick where on both nights we ate there it was extremely busy but the service was brilliant! The staff were so friendly and helpful and attentive. Well done to them!

I refer to your recent review and would firstly thank you for taking the time to do this.

From what you've stated it would certainly appear that we have not met your expecttaions on this occasion. I still find it difficult to believe that you would have waited this long to be served - this is certainly nothing that has been brought to my attention in the past - indeed the vast majority of people praise us for our speed and efficiency.

I would like to apologise on behalf of all at Coast for not meeting your expectations on this occasion.

We stayed in Brodick for 7 nights and ate in the restaurant in Whiting Bay twice for evening meals. We had eaten here for lunch a couple of years ago and loved it. Happy to say that standards were every bit as high this time round if not better. We ate here on our second last night on the island, was so good we booked to come back the next night as well. Great food at great prices with excellent service. Couldn't ask for more. Look forward to coming back in the future. Also ate in the little cafe in Brodick which was very nice too.
