It was a rainy Saturday in Arran, and what better to do with our time then visit the only whisky distillery on the island? (For now...)

The distillery itself is relatively easy to get to from Brodick via public transport, I think it was £3.00 for a single (and the bus gives change - delight!) Upon walking in, the atmosphere is very welcoming and this continued for the whole of our visit. A special mention to staff members Peter and Pam who were very friendly, knowledgeable and made our visit very memorable. It was also great to hear that the distillery remains independent.

Even if you don't like whisky that much, there is plenty about the tour and about the building/produce that will interest you! A definite recommend.

What a contrast this distillery visitor centre is to the Arran Brewery.
This place is a pleasure to visit. All the staff are clean, polite and professional.
Even people ( like us ) who don't drink whiskey can enjoy this professional operation.
Immaculate cafe and toilets.

It's got to be done! Did not disappoint and choice of malts afterwards exceptional. Recommend the 14 year old Single Malt ! Lochranza is also the ferry port from Clanaig and is an excellent introduction to the mini-Scotland that is Arran. We shall definiitely come back as 3 days is not enough. Good grub at the distillery restaurant.

Book into the Arran distillery, decided to book the tour combined with the tutored tasting. The tour lasts about 45 min and is good insight into whisky and the history of Arran whisky. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, as we had booked the tour and tasting they reserved a table in the restaurant for us incase it got busy in between both, the food is great and cracking views if your lucky you might catch a glimpse of a eagle.
After lunch we were met down stairs by Jim who was our tutored taster what a great afternoon Jim has a great knowledge of whisky and spent the next hour or so explaining the whole Arran range with 4 choices from the range to suit varied tastes.
Great way to spend a day (get the bus from Brodick stops right outside the distillery so you can fully enjoy the experience) thank you to all staff especially Jim for a great insight into his passion for the “ water of life”

Take the tour and tasting! Extra money but well worth it! Try to catch the guide, Richard! Wonderful! Bought plenty of whiskey to take back to the States!
