“very comfortable hotel”
Reviewed August 29, 2009

Although our room was fairly small it was well laid out with good use of space and simply but tastefully decorated and very clean and comfortable. Facilities, eg, TV, hair dryer, tea/coffee etc. were good . The dinner menu was limeted but well prepared with some local produce and good value too. The staff were lovely - welcoming and efficient. It was quiet at night- not used as local bar and no loud music so we slept well.
Would I stay there again? Yes please!

First visit to arran for me, travelled with avid arran fan. This hotel was everything we hoped for. On arriving we were greeted by Timothy, one of the proprioters and shown to our room. The room was excellent, our view was the beachfront and right over the holy ilse. FAB!!!!! Tv, hairdryer, coffee and tea facilities all within room. We had dinner in the resuarant one evening and the quality of the food was of a very high standard. The service was excellent Geoffrey, isla, michael and sam were only to happy to help and made us feel very welcome. If you fancy a change of eating place we highly recommend the Pierhead Tavern a short walk from this hotel. I am now planning my next return to arran and that was even in the rain. Thank you Glenisle staff.

We stayed here for 2 nights while participating in hte annuka Arran wildlife Festival. the hotel was a great jumping off point for the festival activities. Apaprently the hotel has been recently refurbished - since this was out foirst time we would not know the difference. the hotel staff was gerneally very friendly and the hotel was very quiet even though our room looked out on thee main shore road. the trade-off was that is also looed outr over the harbor and Holy Island.
We had a great time here.

I've just arrived back home from a lovely long weekend at the Glenisle Hotel in Lamlash, Isle of Arran and I just had to write a review. What a charming place! The friendly new owners, Geoffrey and Timothy, have just completed a winter of renovation and redecoration, and the hotel both looks and feels fresh, comfortable and inviting. The soft island colours have inspired the new colour scheme and the dark wooden floors, exposed stone and simple wooden furniture in the restaurant give it a bistro vibe. I had a fabulous meal of trout followed by home-made apple crumble one night and it was absolutely delicious. The apple crumble is as good as my gran's and that's saying a lot! My friend and I loved our comfortable twin room which had been decorated in tones of sand and blue . It had comfortable beds and crisp white linen and big, fluffy towels; after a long walk along the coast that day in the fresh Arran air, we slept like babies. The view across to the Holy Island is absolutely stunning. What a lovely little gem of a hotel. I'll definitely be back!

I stayed here for one night on a motorbike trip heading to Islay. It has been refurbished in the last year by the new owner and a very good job has been done. The old exposed stonework from its previous life as the local police station is attractive. The staff are friendly and attentive.I did not eat an evening meal but the resturant was busy and people looked happy. Breakfast was excellent and the room was comfortable ,clean, warm and the en suite was excellent.I would happily stay here again and would reccomend it to anyone visiting Arran and staying in Lamlash.

Having recently stayed at The Glenisle, I felt I had to write and give credit where due. The twin room myself and my friend stayed in was beautiful, newly refurbished with views over the garden and also the beach. The touches like fluffy white towels and beautiful linen on the beds made our stay very special. Congratulations to the 2 new owners, Geoffrey and Timothy who have improved this hotel beyond recognition. We also ate in the hotel in the evening and the meal was excellent - as was the breakfast.

A stunning hotel in a picturesque location. The owners Geoffrey and Timothy, and their staff, were exceptionally welcoming. Our comfortable room, which had recently been stylishly refurbished, had a spectacular view over the bay to Holy Island. A great place to discover all that Arran has to offer in particular the diversity of its scenery and wildlife. The food was delicious - the porridge with cream and
whisky a particular breakfast favourite. Highly recommended.
