“The little gem of a hotel”
Reviewed May 19, 2009

I've just arrived back home from a lovely long weekend at the Glenisle Hotel in Lamlash, Isle of Arran and I just had to write a review. What a charming place! The friendly new owners, Geoffrey and Timothy, have just completed a winter of renovation and redecoration, and the hotel both looks and feels fresh, comfortable and inviting. The soft island colours have inspired the new colour scheme and the dark wooden floors, exposed stone and simple wooden furniture in the restaurant give it a bistro vibe. I had a fabulous meal of trout followed by home-made apple crumble one night and it was absolutely delicious. The apple crumble is as good as my gran's and that's saying a lot! My friend and I loved our comfortable twin room which had been decorated in tones of sand and blue . It had comfortable beds and crisp white linen and big, fluffy towels; after a long walk along the coast that day in the fresh Arran air, we slept like babies. The view across to the Holy Island is absolutely stunning. What a lovely little gem of a hotel. I'll definitely be back!

I stayed here for one night on a motorbike trip heading to Islay. It has been refurbished in the last year by the new owner and a very good job has been done. The old exposed stonework from its previous life as the local police station is attractive. The staff are friendly and attentive.I did not eat an evening meal but the resturant was busy and people looked happy. Breakfast was excellent and the room was comfortable ,clean, warm and the en suite was excellent.I would happily stay here again and would reccomend it to anyone visiting Arran and staying in Lamlash.

Having recently stayed at The Glenisle, I felt I had to write and give credit where due. The twin room myself and my friend stayed in was beautiful, newly refurbished with views over the garden and also the beach. The touches like fluffy white towels and beautiful linen on the beds made our stay very special. Congratulations to the 2 new owners, Geoffrey and Timothy who have improved this hotel beyond recognition. We also ate in the hotel in the evening and the meal was excellent - as was the breakfast.

A stunning hotel in a picturesque location. The owners Geoffrey and Timothy, and their staff, were exceptionally welcoming. Our comfortable room, which had recently been stylishly refurbished, had a spectacular view over the bay to Holy Island. A great place to discover all that Arran has to offer in particular the diversity of its scenery and wildlife. The food was delicious - the porridge with cream and
whisky a particular breakfast favourite. Highly recommended.

we spent two nights in the recently refurbished Glenisle. The work has been carried out to a very high standard and our room was beautifully appointed and offered spectacular views across the bay to Holy Island. Breakfasts and evening meals were excellent and the staff were friendly & welcoming. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their hospitality. Steve & Jean Aberdeen Scotland

Sarah and I were looking for a good hotel in a romantic location for our 5th Wedding Anniversary and the Glenisle Hotel, situated on the sea front at Lamlash was absolutley perfect. The hotel has enormous character, cosy rooms and stunning views across the bay to Holy Island. The owners Timothy and Geoffrey, ably supported by their friendly, courteous and competent staff provided a warmth of welcome not often experienced in the hospitality trade these days. The quality of the food served at the Glenisle is so good that you need look no further for your evening meal than the dining room, having enjoyed a relaxing drink or two in the Talisman bar. As we left on the 2 Nov, the owners were embarking on a comprehensive and carefully planned refurbishment of the hotel over the next few years, reflecting the clolours and textures of the Island and using where possible the skills of local craftsmen and artisans. This will make an already super hotel even better and we can't wait for our next visit.

I took my mum to Arran for a long weekend looking for peace and relaxation.

The Glenisle Hotel provided this in bucket loads. Its location is breath taking and the view from the room was one of the best I've seen over looking the sea and the calm beach of Lamlash. It definitely has the best location of all the hotels on the island.

The new owners are friendly and take time out to chat and let you know about all the places to visit which was really welcoming.

The food was excellent value and the breakfast very tasty. The staff were attentive and you could tell they wanted to make sure you enjoyed your stay.

I am going back in the summer time and will stay at this hotel again.
