“Really stylish and comfortable boutique hotel”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

Glenisle Hotel has the most wonderful location in the middle of little Lamlash Bay, a 5-7 minute drive out of Brodick. The building is apparently quite old but has been done up really, really stylishly - great artwork on the walls, very interesting furniture, lovely restaurant, beautifully appointed rooms and so on. The superior rooms are particularly great - large and with lovely sea views, but with a little bit of traffic noise off the main road. It isn't cheap, by any stretch, but they offer a couple of good early booking online deals. The restaurant is pretty good value for money, with a varied menu and some vegetarian options too. There are plenty of eating options in nearby Brodick as well. In Lamlash, there's the Drift Inn and the very nice daytime cafe, the Old Pier Tearoom.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are cracking. The single rooms are comfortable but small.

I chose this hotel from the photos of the rooms etc. on the Hotel website and the tripadvisor reviews - we were not disappointed. You don't have to have a sea view or the premier suite to enjoy this charming hotel. We had a 'cosy' room and it was lovely ................ and very cosy with beautiful views across the garden to the side and we could see the sea!
A lot of thought has been put into giving the guest that little bit extra - nice touches such as a choice of pillows to suit both comfort and allergic requirements, a pair of binoculars in the room for use during your stay and fresh flowers in the dining areas.
The food was great; we enjoyed an evening meal and the breakfasts were very good.
The staff and management were all very friendly and attentive and hopefully one day we will return to Arran and definitely stay at the Glenisle Hotel again.

Room Tip: The 'Cosy' rooms are lovely as long as you don't mind a climb but we were offered help w...

The hotel has lovely decor great staff and serves first class food and the views across Whiting Bay to Holy Isle are splendid.
There were a pair of binoculars in the room for use during our stay and walks from the Hotel are also provided, another nice touch is a choice of pillows to suit both comfort and allergic requirements.
The Bar and lounges are decorated with local artifacts and artworks by local artists and there is also a very pleasant and sheltered garden area.
We were well cared for by staff and management during our stay and will certainly return,a five star reccommendation.

Room Tip: we had a standard room, which was great but might treat ourselves to a premier room next time.

This was a last minute booking for one night only in a so called 'standard' room. There was nothing standard about this room though, or the rest of the hotel for that matter. You don't necessarily need a sea view since, weather permitting, you'd be enjoying the views outside in this great location. Fresh and contemporary decor throughout, with local artists' work on display (some for sale) which is a nice touch. All staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. We had lunch on arrival and a full breakfast the following morning - couldn't fault the food at all. We didn't want to leave, so a (slightly) later check out time (particularly on a Sunday) would have been our only wish.

We crossed on the Cloanaig-Locrenza ferry, when we told the ferryman where we were staying he said " you wont be disappointed ", needless to say he was right!
We stayed at the Glenisle hotel for a couple of nights. We were lucky to be able to book the premier suite. It is the best room we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in many home and abroad. The quality of everything, from the bed, the bath, decor, every little detail was excellent and the view was exceptional. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean. Every single member of staff was very friendly and they went out of their way to be helpful, they made the atmosphere relaxed but professional.
We ate in the restaurant on both nights, the food and service was first rate. Hardly surprising that there were non residents eating at the hotel both nights.
We shall definitely return sooner rather than later.

Fantastic location, beautifully decorated and the staff were very attentive. We ate in the bistro each of the 3 nights we stayed and the standard of food and service was excellent each time. We opted for a Superior room which offered a great view out across the bay to Holy Isle.
