It is rare that you encounter a manager as friendly and accommodating as Jim at the Douglas - he simply made our visit a delight and was extremely helpful in allowing us to celebrate the 50th birthday of our friend Doris. The standard of decor at the hotel and bistro is of the highest order. We all enjoyed our meal and were particularly grateful for Jim's advice and tasting notes on the local malt whiskies. On Saturday evening we were entertained by Dave the resident guitarist and again nothing was too much for the staff to make sure Doris had an enjoyable time. We have no qualms in commending this fine establishment which demonstrates Scottish hospitality at its best. At the end of our stay Doris was very tired and emotional but 'well made up'.

They had an excellent menu with a really good selection! I love scallops and their dish with black pudding was fantastic! We had a lovely waiter who was very attentive but not overly present... Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again!!

Loved everything we ate. Servers were all friendly and helpful without being over-attentive. I had the chateaubriand espetada and the steak was tender and juicy. Can't remember what my hubby had but he was definitely impressed.

This place has got to be the top hotel on Arran. The location, views and quality are all top notch. The food quality, service and furniture quality were all excellent. I would recommend you stop here when you next visit Arran.
