My husband, toddler and I are just back from a three night stay, from a deal we got through Groupon. It was fantastic and very good value for money. All the staff at the hotel (and the rest of the island) were very friendly and welcoming. I always worry when you get such a good deal at a hotel, that it will be sub-standard, this was not the case.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Ele on reception, who explained everything to us. The hotel was accommodating to our needs and allowed us to keep our wee chaps goats milk in their fridge. They were very good with children too.
I was going to say that my only expectation that wasn't met was that they didn't have Arran aromatics toiletries in the bathroom - but they had a few samples in the actual bedroom, along with a bottle of bubbly on arrival.
The pool was great for me, but was quite cold for our toddler and he wouldn't stay in more than a couple of minutes.
Food at the restaurant was lovely, as were the breakfasts. If there was something they didn't have out, they were more than happy to try and provide it for us.
Overall, we had a great stay and I would recommend this as a great place to stay. We had the car, so were able to explore the island at our leisure. But there is a bus stop right outside the hotel and plenty walks right on the doorstep. :o)

Room Tip: We had room 9 which had a sea view and plenty room to put a cot.

Have eaten here a few times before but never reviewed it. We stay with family on Arran and occasionally go forth to eat in various places. The quality varies across the island but in short, the Kinloch has come up to the mark every time, both with food and service.

It's not gourmet food but if you want a standard menu (not necessarily freshly prepared, often chilled food) that hits the spot, this is great! I have to say, the haddock and chips was fantastic and some of the specials were good, too.

The service is very friendly, fast and efficient and the Jolly Roger cask ale splendid!

Prices are fair, maybe a little expensive on some items and the wine list uninspiring but passable. The good points far outweigh the slight negatives.

As I said, we've been before and will go again. Happily.

Having always stayed on the east side of Arran, this was our first time staying on the west coast. Brilliant 3 night B&B price. Weather wet and very windy with 1 sunny day, but who cares when Hotel is very comfy, staff very attentive and friendly - can't do enough for you. Food TOO good! The family that has owned an run the hotel for the past 60 years has achieved - and maintained - very high standards, quite exceeding their 3 star rating. Lovely situation overlooking the sea.

I've just spent two nights at this hotel with friends to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday. It was a most enjoyable stay. The hotel's 3 star rating doesn't do it justice. The location is gorgeous, the rooms are comfortable, clean and well-appointed, the food is excellent and the staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. I would go back here any time and can thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: Try to get one with a sea view. It was lovely looking out on the sea each morning.

From calling to book our stay until the time that we checked out the service at this hotel was exemplary.

After arriving on a pretty blustery day we were greeted warmly by Ruth at reception who talked us through the hotel's facilities and who seemed genuinely happy to provide us with any assistance we needed throughout our stay.

The room that we stayed in (number 32) was decorated in a modern way, was very clean and had a lovely sea view, I'm sure had the weather been better you would have been able to see right across to Campbeltown. The en suite was also spotless.

We dined in the hotel both of the nights that we stayed. The menu and the specials provided a good variety and everything we ate was expertly cooked and delicious. On both occasions we were seated and served by a waitress named Gemma who again was very pleasant and seemed very happy to help. There was also a barman who impressed us both with his service, after just a couple of rounds we were able to order our drinks with just a look and a nod even during a busy Saturday afternoon when the bar was crowded with people watching the Scotland v France rugby match. Unfortunately though I didn't catch his name

The bar/lounge that joins on to the hotel had a nice atmosphere and the drinks were reasonably priced (think average pub prices).

One of the things on our 'to do' list during our visit Arran was a trip to the distillery which is in Lochranza. Although this is 17 miles from the hotel there is bus stop pretty much right outside the front door with regular buses that can get you to anywhere on the island meaning that despite the hotel's location in Blackwaterfoot, all of the attractions of the island are easily accessible.

To sum up, if you are looking for a quiet get away in a quality hotel where the food is fantastic, the rooms are modern and clean and the staff are genuinely pleasant (rather than in a forced 'I have to be nice because its my job' sort of way) then I can absolutely recommend the Kinloch Hotel
