We took the tasting tour at the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, TN, and followed up with a walk around the quaint village square. Most of the shops seemed to be themed to the local product and at Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiasts. We had reserved seats at the second serving of the mid-day meal at Miss Mary Bobo's and were rewarded with an excellent meal and fascinating dinner companions. The food was simple country fare, but excellently prepared and in quantities that left no one hungry. Our table was blessed with a charming docent who regaled us with the history of Lynchburg, the distillery, and of course, the boarding house. The part about the meal that was so fascinating was to listen to the other guests, their backgrounds, and their observations of this part of our country. Of the ten guests at our table, two were from Austria, one from Israel, and the rest from all areas of the US. Their backgrounds were diverse and their observations struck chords of resonance in all of us as we listened and contributed to the conversation. We are looking forward to sharing this treasure with friends who come visiting.
