Great place to stop and visit! About an hour south of Nashville, but worth the ride! Take the tour, have a bottle of their priced whiskey personalized with lazer engraving for a friend, relative or even as a wedding gift! You can see the whole process of making their whiskey from start to finish and the town has a really cute square with a couple general stores, a Harley store and just about anything you want with the Jack Daniel's logo on it from lawn chairs to chome harley parts!

If you're in the area (Nashville is only an hour away), would throughly recommend this visit. We got there late so all the tasting tours had filled up but the free tour does basically the same route (minus the whisky!). Everyone was friendly, the tour guide (we had big John) was great and we had a really brilliant time. None of us were that into whisky so this is fun for the whole family. We were impressed at how much they could show us.

The area is also stunningly beautiful - in some parts of the tour you feel like you're in a nature reserve!

They also have a few unique bottles of JD you can buy at the end and get them laser engraved - a great gift for any JD lover.

GO!

We were there over the 4th of July weekend & found the area to be very nice & a bit of a step back in time. There are lots of interesting items to see in the visitors area along with just walking the grounds or taking the foot bridge into to Lynchburg(which I did). The tour was a little over an hour(which is free). We had missed the tasting tour(the last one is at 3:00pm and there is a charge) but none the less my son, teen daughter and myseld each took away something from the day in Lynchburg. If you are into BBQ, they have a Championship coming up 10/26/2013 which we hope to get back for.

We visited the Jack Daniels distillery over the July 4th holiday week.

We were able to get in on the free tour as soon as we arrived. We passed on the $10 'tasting" tour since I do not drink. The charge is for the "tour" and not the alcohol as they are not allowed to charge for served alcohol since they are in a "dry" county.

The only exception is that they are able to sell bottles of JD in their gift shop. Great bargains to be had there!

You get to tour the facilities and see the entire process from beginning to end.

Loved this place! You can't take photos inside the distillery but can elsewhere. You can't buy the product except very expensive souvenir bottles as it's a dry county!! The smells and sights and experience is well worth doing. the guides are great and so informative. Do take an umbrella or jacket as a fair bit of the tour is outside.
