Good for: Local cuisine, Special occasions, Business meetings, Romantic
Dining options: Dinner, Reservations
Description: The elegant modern dining room has a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Short hand-written menus change frequently, as they are based on local seasonal ingredients. A concise interesting choice ensures that each dish is prepared individually for each customer, allowing for great attention to detail. The restaurant is an ideal place to book for a private party to celebrate a special occasion, birthday, anniversary or an intimate wedding. Set tasting menus are tailor-made to the diners choice. The restaurant can accommodate special dietary requirements easily, as everything is home-made - just let us know in advance when you book. For example, we bake our own gluten-free bread for coeliacs. If you require a vegetarian menu or have any other dietary requirements, please let us know when booking. The wine list offers an interesting reasonably priced selection, hand selected affordable quality wines to compliment the food.

“Wonderful personalised service, delicious seasonal food”
Reviewed September 2, 2009

This restaurant is an absolute jewel in a very uninspiring town. It has a small, intimate atmosphere. The owner-chefs specialise in using seasonal produce: at my recent visit they had been up picking wild mushrooms early that morning leading to a powerful wild mushroom casserole. Flavours pack a punch. They will offer a special vegetarian menu with prior warning which has been warmly received by guests I have taken. An interesting winelist and delicious desserts. Highly recommended - well worth travelling out of your way to get there.

“A Superb Little Family-Run Restaurant”
Reviewed August 19, 2009

A friend took us to Ostlers Close and we had one of the best meals we've had for years. The hosts, Jimmy and Amanda serve delicious international food at reasonable prices. We had genuine Isle of Skye scallops that just fell apart (not the rubbery shellfish you often get) then a delicious course of small melt-in-the-mouth venison rounds with superb vegetables (their mushrooms are exquisite) and a home-made sweet dish to die for. My wife and I chose the same dish for all three courses!. A must visit place, one of the best we've tried in Fife!

“Outstanding experience!!”
Reviewed April 14, 2009

My wife and I have dined at Ostlers Close on quite a few occasions and have taken many of our guests to share in the experience. I am quite surprised that more customers have not yet submitted a review for this outstanding restaurant. The whole experience is of the highest quality. The attention and care taken by Amanda with all her guests is very unusual in this day and age of impersonal service. The menu offers a great choice of mouth-watering options where making a choice is always difficult. Either the perfectly cooked and presented fish dishes, always fresh, or the succulent seasonal game options would satisfy even the most demanding palate. The wine list is varied in price but always capable of providing a satisfying choice. If you are in a dilemma, Amanda can always help out with a suggestion. This is the only restaurant we have visited that provides specially baked and very tasty gluten free rolls (just request when you are booking). I am still amazed that the AA only awards it with 2 Rosettes! (The AA seems to have lost the plot). I would rate this as one of the best in the whole of Fife, where there is a high concentration of Scottish Masterchefs and even Michelin starred restaurants..

This is a fantastic place, which is great value for money as long as you're careful about what wine you choose. The food and service is fantastic and very friendly.
