Came here with husband & friends on a deal and would highly recommend it. Other reviews mention the lack of view but really it doesn't matter at all when you're out exploring all day! The rooms are under a minute's walk from the harbour which is so picturesque and the restaurant (where you have breakfast) looks out across it.
The room (we were in room 1) was large and spotlessly clean and had nice touches such as fresh flowers, good quality toiletries and large bottles of still and sparkling water. Who needs a view when it's a lovely room to lay your head, with great facilities?!
Breakfast was excellent with a really good choice - the warm bagel with smoked haddock and scrambled eggs was an unusual, welcome option and really tasty. The sausages were yummy & herby and the other ingredients of the large Scottish breakfast were good quality and tasty too!
As part of the deal, dinner in the restaurant was included and the food all 4 of us had was delicious. The staff were friendly and service great.
We would highly recommend and have plans to return again next year (including the walk along the coast to Cellardyke Harbour which was beautiful)!

Room Tip: Room 1 is on the top floor so no-one above. No view but lovely facilities and less than a minute from the harbour.

We arrived for a 2 night stay with an itson deal after a 1 night stay at the Bank again brilliant,
Staff were very friendly and so welcoming room was at the top of the granary and huge for a couple but you have to take whats left, But we thought this was amazing for a young family in fact superb, Absolutley spottless with fresh flowers which is a brilliant touch for us also showed they cared about making it pleasant for you ooppss unless you have hayfever but hey not in the middle of winter lol, Menu was great and very varied and food tasted great, but adverse well below zero tempratures hit and we could not get enough heat in the room in fact even with the heating system which was only warm it was baltic cold, The manager could not have been more helpful and gave us an electric heater within minutes and we were soon warm again.
and had a great stay, But if you like us like veiws which to be honest there were none only roofs and work in progress buildings so book a seafront room advisable, We still Recommend the Waterfront highly

Room Tip: I believe most rooms are in a courtyard with no views and mabye 2 or 3 have veiws of the Waterfront so advisable to book a room well in advance

Waterfront Hotel - don't be misled by the name, the rooms dont have a view. On arrival went into hotel, to be taken out of that building, into an alley at the side and round the back are the rooms. . Quiet room, comfortable but poor light, very dull - closed in by buildings on both sides. A bit of a fusty smell from bathroom and shower door didn't close properly. Shower pressure and heat not great.. Don't know how people raved about food. Worst breakfast I have had - plate swimming in grease!

Room Tip: Make sure you get ground or first floor room Very steep narrow staircase

We stayed here for two night on 15th and 16th Feb. We were in the notorious room 5 which there are so many comments on. On arrival we were greeted by a warm cosy room with a nice vase of fresh flowers which is always a nice touch. The room was very large with a large double bed which we found to be very comfortable. The only thing we didnt like about the room was that the floorboards of the room upstairs creaked whenever someone walked on them and it did become a nuisance after a while. The restaurant we found to be excellent with a large and varied menu. The food was excellent and the portions far too large for one person. The staff were friendly and helpful. The best thing for me was no mobile phone signal. A definite plus in my book.

Room Tip: If you want a harbour view ask for it when booking.

Dinner Sunday night, so disappointed! Staying in sister establishment The Bank, ate in The Bank Sat night 'pub grub' but good pub grub, value for money. The Waterfront, advertised as 'restaurant' food, expecting good food, sorry, not even good pub grub. Paid 2x as much for food no where near as good as The Bank.
