We are 5 mature adults who spent three weeks in Scotland in May of 2013. We stayed in nearby Crail for 4 days and had planned to take the Osprey to May Island. My early contacts with Colin were by e-mail and he always answered promptly and with good information. The day we wanted to sail to May Island there were no other reservations made. Even though Colin requires 8 on a booking he kindly agreed to take the three of us. Before you go you will be suited up with rain gear so not a drop of water will get on your clothes. The boat trip was most memorable as we stopped to learn about the wildlife and to see birds diving for fish. The Island of May is covered with various varieties of birds. Even if you are not a bird lover the beauty of the island will overwhelm you. We spent three hours on the island and could have spent two more easily. I was looking for puffins and saw about a dozen. On the way back Colin stopped several times to allow me to photograph several in the water. There were many seals and we were able to stop within a few yards of them.Aat one time i counted 10 seal heads in the water around our boat. The island has a lighthouse, ruins of a monastery and an old house with a huge horn on it.There is also a bathroom and rest area. There are numerous cliffs and beautiful scenery everywhere. It was the highlight of our week in Crail. The ships sail from Anstruther which is about 5 miles from Crail. What made the trip special was Colin's knowledge of the area and his ability to maneuver close to the sea birds , seals and island. The ride itself was fun, safe and despite our fear did not make us the least bit seasick. Brilliant thanks so much to Colin.

I booked this trip as a birthday present for my partner and skipper Colin, his vessel 'Osprey' and the destination, the seabird sanctuary "the Isle of May", did not disappoint.
The trip both ways on a 'rigid inflatable' was exciting and interesting as Colin stopped from time to time to point out wildlife on the way. His knowledge of the local waters and their wildlife was superb. A real bonus was being able to cruise right under the cliffs to get close to the nesting seabirds and the seals below. Other, larger, boats used for this trip would not be suitable for this.
Waterproofs and life preservers were provided. Stout shoes are advised for on the island.
Colin was also extremely helpful when getting my partner's ageing grandparents aboard as they didn't want to miss the trip, so I can genuinely say this is a a superb outing for all ages! Highly recommended.
