“Great dog friendly cottage in a beautiful part of the world.”
Reviewed March 29, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

The cottage is in a lovely village with dog walks on the doorstep. The Fife Coastal Path is easily accessible. Lots of lovely places to visit nearby, fabulous beaches. We had our 2 dogs with us and were delighted to find they were welcome in lots of pubs. Particularly liked the Ship Inn in Elie.
A great break in spite of the cold windy weather.

“Winter stay at Duck Cottage”
Reviewed February 21, 2017 for a stay in February 2017

We had booked this break as a treat with family for a xmas gift.
The cottage was lovely, everything as shown in the photos, nice and quirky but well equipped and homely.
Missed wireless but got used to that very quickly, spending time walking locally, along the coast and further afield.
A lovely location and just what we needed.
Thank you!

“A Relaxing Week,”
Reviewed January 12, 2017 for a stay in December 2016

A relaxing weeks stay at Duck cottage, facilities as described. Lots of country walks.
Lack of wifi has been commented on by other reviewers but the cottage receives a 4g signal so no issues and opposite is an old style red telephone box so both ends of the Telecom spectrum are catered for.!

“Lovely location, some improvement required”
Reviewed August 9, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The location was fabulous with a lovely walk down to Cellaryke, past the harbour and on to Anstruther. The cottage, while spacious and with lots of character, requires some minor improvements to reach its potential as a holiday rental. The single beds were too small and flimsy to be comfortable for adults, changing these and adding a wardrobe should be a priority as should reorganising the kitchen storage so visitors can actually store their food items. Otherwise, a comfortable and attractive cottage.

I'm glad you enjoyed the setting, and the character of Duck Cottage, but disappointed you found some things not to your liking. The single beds in the second bedroom are only a few months old, and are a standard single size. As for the kitchen, many guests have commented previously about how well stocked with utensils and culinary wares it is, but I will review the amount of cupboard space available for guests on the basis of your review. Thanks.

I'm so pleased you had a good time at Duck Cottage. No WIFI is an issue for some, but for many, it is an opportunity for some peace and quiet, and nowadays most people have phones and tablets that access the internet independently. I am contemplating installing WiFi, but that would come at the expense of a higher rental price. For now, I hope guests bring with them the essential connectivity they need, and a desire to take it easy and relax for a week or so without the pressures and hassles of being online and on call.....

“Nice setting but average accomodation”

Duck Cottage is set in the attractive village of Kilrenny with Cellardyke and Anstruther only a short distance away. The cottage is well equipped, though the living room is rather dark and cool, with a noticeable dog smell. The catch on the bathroom was broken, and the plug attachment in the sink wouldn`t close, so that it was impossible to fill the sink. There were no clean towels lying ready on the beds as was supposed to be the case. However, we did enjoy our stay in the area. R & G Craig

I'm sorry to hear things weren't entirely to your liking in the Cottage. Being an old property, there are some quirks to the place that may not appeal to all. Others have enjoyed the cosy atmosphere of the lounge, with the original low ceilings and deep-set windows.

I'm sorry too if there was a noticeable dog smell - we try our best to clean thoroughly between guests, as I am keen to maintain my policy of accepting responsible pet owners.

I do hope you found the fresh towels in the airing cupboard just outside the bathroom as is stated in the booking literature and thank you for bringing to my attention the minor fixings required in the bathroom. I hope that they did not inconvenience you too much.
