    Excellent room, with all we'd expected. On main road (but we knew that). Staff all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast good (kippers excellent). Room kept spotless. We ate one night at the hotel: fantastic herring, and very good hot smoked salmon. We'd definitely recommend The Spindrift, but:
    - it would be good to have Pittenweem oatcakes for breakfast on request, not just for sale;
    - bacon tasted slightly of kipper;
    - orange marmalade (not just three-fruit) might be offered, particualyas it came from Dundee!
    - teapot in our room not emptied one night.

    Very nice small hotel, would compare equally with other similar nice venues if if were not for truly incredible food both for breakfast or dinner on the evening the hostess offers one! A good meal requires two basic ingredients: talent, and there is plenty of it there and very good ingredients, and you'll only find that on your plate. Everything is locally procured from the best places!!

    Only the wine list could see some improvement; it is fine but lacks a bit of imagination. Some very affordable and very good wine can nowadays be found, even in Scotland, which offer more character than a good, but slightly boring, chardonnay or sauvignon-blanc (here I cannot remember what it was, which is the point...)

    Finally, one last comment, relevant for most places in the UK, it is high-time to remove wall to wall carpeting and show the nice wood floor or the tiles which have been waiting for for too long for showtime!

    We stayed at the Spindrift last week (August 2013), my partner had tried to get us in for the week but unable to. Ken was very accomodating in organising another B&B for us. the food was great we had an evening meal which christine cooked and it was just lovley. the room was fantastic, plenty of space and very clean. we had a nice lounge that we could relax in with our evening coffee. Will definitely be going back. x

    We stayed at the Spindrift for one night in August. We we're greeted by Christine and she definitely made us feel welcomed. The house is lovely, with loads of character and nice touches everywhere. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and the staff very helpful.

    It's quite close to the harbour, a short walk from the pubs and restaurants.

    The only reason we can't give it 5 stars is because of the bed, I should says beds. We booked a double room, but what we got were 2 single beds that had 2 different types of old mattresses on, both very hard and uncomfortable. I own a B&B myself and I think the bed and the breakfast are the most important elements of anyone's stay, the rest is more of a welcomed bonus.

    Room Tip: The beds in room 7 not the greatest!

    Ken & Christine Lawson, owners of The Spindrift Guest House
    We are glad that on the whole you enjoyed your visit to our Guest House. Your comments regarding the beds & mattresses in your bedroom have been noted and we have now replaced them with new mattresses from our local supplier. The bedroom you were allocated can either be used as a twin or king size double using the zip and link format and as you requested a double when you booked, it was made up as a king size. When we responded to you initially we regretfully confused you with another guest that stayed that week and we can only apologise for this and the mattresses, but thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    My husband and I had a three day break at The Spindrift, it was a break away for his birthday.

    We got a very warm welcome a nice room and each morning we had lovely breakfast the choice and quality at breakfast was excellent. The owner had asked us the reason for our visit and I mentioned it was my husbands birthday and on the Sunday morning there was a lovely card waiting for him at breakfast and the young waitress wished him a happy birthday a really personal touch. Our room which we had booked at the last minute and it was the last one available was a little small but very nice but it didn't matter because there was a lovely lounge to sit with TV, games, newspapers and even a fully stocked bar.

    It was an excellent stay and I must commend the owners for there attention to detail there was nothing more we could have asked for. If we decide to have a break in this area we would not hesitate to go back.
