Description: Room with A View, Seafood Restaurant situated within the Forth View Hotel in the coastal village Aberdour, Fife. Enjoy succulent scallops, wholesome halibut & Fresh Langoustines and many more delicious seasonal seafood dishes cooked to exquisite perfection. Whilst also enjoying the small but special menu you can enjoy the spectacular views of Edinburgh and the river Forth whilst listening to local Classical Guitar player Nick Rees on the sound system (who also plays live on occasion). Every seat offers a view of Edinburgh or Aberdour Harbour or climbers on the Hawkcraig Cliffs. On a sunny day it is nice to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the garden area or eat Al fresco

“Birthday Treat”

We first heard about Room with a View at the Inverkeithing fish shop and were beguiled by the menu and the location. Apparently there was no road to the hotel until relatively recently and the guests arrived by boat and conveyance. The road down the cliff is narrow winding and steep with just a hint of danger. We had a scallop roe bisque as an amuse bouche and then tackled the difficult choice of the starters and main dishes. We settled for smoked salmon mackerel profiteroles and chilli crab tartlet - mouthwatering and for the main courses halibut with caviare in a citrus flavour sauce and monkfish tails with sage and onion stuffing, looked a perfect picture on a big square contoured white plate, we didn't need a camera as the picture of the food lives on as a perfect memory. For desert we had marmalade icecream floating in an expresso and white chocolate and raspberry mille feuille. The whole experience was magic and thoroughly to be recommended.

EXCELLENT! after a lovely walk trough Aberdour, we had a wonderful lunch of delicious seafood. The shared basket of small delights was a great starter;plus home-made rolls DELICIOUS! Main courses lovely too.
House wine perfect
To finish a perfect not bitter double expresso! What more can anyone want?
A beautiful view of the Forth and Arthur Seat in the distance and nice background music... well you will have it all ! And all that for £50 wine included....

“Hidden gem with an off road safari to get there!”
Reviewed November 29, 2012 via mobile

Been on our 'to-do' list for many years since moving to Fife. My wife got a voucher for a meal though one of 'those' websites and we booked up.

If has a very homely feel about it and the reception is indeed like someone's living room with various instruments and lots of old pics of the bay on the walls.

We were met in the car park and welcomed into the reception lounge where we had drinks until our table was ready.

The food was out of this world. Mostly seafood based and if I had one criticism it would be include on the menu what dish has 'other meats' in it. I eat fish and seafood but no meat and there was bacon in a few of the dishes (not going to lie though it was nice!).

If you are a couple I recommend the Hamper as a starter to share. Almost a tapas style taste of all the starters, very filling and quite rich, but really really scrummy. You can expect to find lobster bisque, smoked haddock brûlée, scallops (these had bacon in), skewered prawns in sweet chilli and cous cous with crab.

Main I had cajun monkfish. Very rich again but to die for. My wife had the Halibut (also come wrapped in bacon). So much of it we probably lowered the tone and asked for a box!

Over all a great wee place. As in the title it's down a very very steep dirt track. They will pick you up and if you have a standard passenger car I'd recommend that option.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

A lovely seafood restaurant with amazing views out over the Firth of Forth. The food doesn't fail to please and the service is attentive and helpful. Access is down a steep single track road to the sea shore, but the management are happy to give you a lift down the hill. This is a true seafood restuarant withonly one vegetarian alternative starter and main. Higly recommended.
