Stayed here for 1 night - wish it had been more. On arrival the entrance is welcoming and very quaint- the border collie dogs are so friendly. The room was very spacious and wonderfully clean and bright the views over the firth of forth were fantastic and the sound of the waves lapping at the bottom of the garden was devine. The room was very calm and serene The ensuite was shower-not bath. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We dined in the Room with a View restaurant which is part of the hotel. The restaurant is small, cosy and intimate. We ordered the sea bass and the hallibut both dishes were superb.Sitting in the gardens,we had wonderful views as well as watching the rock climbers nearby. Highly recommend this hotel. - Alice x

Wonderful location! Situated right on the shore with walks to the harbour. Room 5 has a fantastic double aspect view of the Forth and the harbour. Lovely newly decorated spacious room in characterful and homely house. Made to feel very welcome and served delicious breakfast. High class reasonably priced fish restaurant. Only 5 mins by car to Aberdour Station with free parking and half hour services to Edinburgh. What more could you want!

Just stayed the one night but what a location and splendid help from all the staff. They couldn't have been more helpul and friendly - drove us into Aberdour village, recommending the restaurant at the Aberdour Hotel (Room with A View was fully booked) and driving our car up the daunting and somewhat steep lane leadig to the hotel. Will most certainly return for a longer stay to experience all that this unique hotel and restaurant have to offer.

Room Tip: Go for room 5, fantastic views.

We stayed for several nights and would highly recommend the Forth View hotel. We loved the out of the way location; it's situated along the Fife Coastal Path, just a short walk or drive from the village of Aberdour. It was easy to walk to the village and then take the 30 minute train ride into Edinburgh Waverley, without having to drive anywhere or worry about parking. At the hotel, all of the front rooms have fantastic views across the water. Our room and its en suite bathroom were large and comfortable - the furnishings were perhaps a bit basic, but the room was very much priced accordingly. The restaurant downstairs has excellent food - the fish and seafood at dinner were out of this world. Everything about this place is just terrific.

My husband and I booked to stay here for one night as we had heard good things about the hotel and its seafood restaurant, A Room with a View. When I called to book the hotel was closed for the season but they keep a room open for people wishing to eat in the resturant. That was perfect. We asked for a bottle of sparkly to be in our room on arrival and it was there waiting for us. The hotel is steeped in history and has a real charm about it. Our en-suite room was big and comfortable with great views across the Forth.

The meal in the restaurant was excellent and I loved the presentation. It is a small dining room which keeps the ambience cosy but it is clearly a popular destination as most of the tables were booked. The hotel also runs a pick-up/drop-off service to the town for diners which is a great idea as the hotel is situated at the bottom of a country track, which was a bit daunting driving down in the dark but not so scary driving back up in the daylight! We sat in the cosy lounge after our meal with a wee whisky before going off to sleep.

Breakfast was good - even though we were the only people having breakfast, there was a good selection of fruit, cereal and yoghurt, which was followed by a cooked breakfast. I particularly liked the homemade marmalade!

After breakfast we had a walk in the garden before driving home. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We had a very relaxing stay, we didn't feel rushed and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We also enjoyed meeting Misty, Hannah's gorgeous Border Collie. Every hotel should have a dog!

It was a perfect weekend and we woud definitely go back.

Beautiful building with real air of history about it. Absolutely mesmerising views that are impossible to describe. Very tranquil with interesting history and some adventurous footpaths leading to surrounding Aberdour. I stayed here for 4 nights on business and felt really at home. Bonus is, there is a great seafood restaurant on site too! Just couldn't get any better. great breakfast too. The rooms to go for face the estuary and are en-suite. Nothing too fancy with slightly dated furniture but who cares - sitting in the room with your feet up looking out over the estuary.

Spend a night there for a family reunion and couldn't have asked for more. The first floor corner room, 5?, has windows that face the Forth and the Bridges/Aberdour harbour and is probably the best room. The food in the 'Room with a View' restaurant is exceptional with many non-residents visiting from far and wide. Very much a seafood menu but with meat options if you order in advance. Very friendly staff, stunning location and memorable dining experience. Some of the decor may be a bit dated but you overlook this - it just doesn't matter. Being there does.

Room Tip: Ask for the first floor corner suite - Room 5?
