“Excellent attraction”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Well marked with informative placards, friendly staff, and well-tended. With church next-door, a great way to get a feel for the local history. Worth the price of admission...especially for the dove-cote.

“Historic castle”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Great atmosphere - lovely home baked scone sitting in the castle grounds. Lovely garden too and then a walk through to the ancient little church.

Steeped in history. A romantic ruin with beautiful grounds and gardens. Excellent tearoom on-site, with good transport links.

“A very interesting find”

We found this more engaging than Edinburgh Castle -- but, of course, not on the same scale. Do take time to have a pot of tea -- wonderful!!

“An unexpected treasure”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

We visited the castle by accident, trying to find the old road down to the harbour area. However, the little castle is very interesting, and the gardens, though much of them just lawn, very pleasant on a sunny day.
