“Drummohr Lodge with hot tub, expensive weekend break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

We booked a lodge with a hot tub on recommendation and although we thought it expensive we went with it. On arrival we were greeted by the warden shown to the accommodation. The lodge overlooked the sea through the trees and the patio & hot tub area was fully enclosed which was ideal as we had four dogs with us. After the long drive from the West Midlands the hot tub was calling and after a few minutes settling the animals we were in it. The water was hot, clean and worked wonders on tired bodies.
The area around the park has a lot to see just a short walk away and is not very far from the attractions of Edinburgh.
The site was clean with good walks for the dogs, the wardens were helpful and attended one issue we had promptly, the hot tub was checked twice daily and the lodge was clean and warm.
Worth £xxx for a weekend? not sure about that but would go again for a midweek break to see Edinburgh properly.

We arrived after the office had shut...6 which we thought was pretty early for a caravan park. there was a warden on site... we just had to find her. The setting was fine. We had to drive to find a place for dinner. The place was clean and well maintained... guess it just wasn't as friendly and homey as the places we had stayed in the country parts of Scotland

We hired an octolodge for 4 nights. The beds were small but comfortable enough. The staff was very helpfull and friendly. Toilets were clean, so were most of the showers. The only problem with the lodge was the fire-alarm, which went off every time we made toast. Even with all the doors and windows open. Bus nr 26 takes you from right in front of the park into the centre of edinburgh in about 50 minutes.

Have used the site three times now and love it there. The staff are lovely, they cant do enough for you. We had a problem with our electric hook up, which Ray sorted out immediatly for us. The site is spotless, has a lot of ammenities and we will be back. Of course they cant help when the guy in the tent next to you snores like a rabid bear, but thats the joys of camping. Love the site, and cant wait till next August.

What can I say our lodge was like going home . It was clean comfy ,spacious, modern decor, everything you needed was provided. The staff were very helpful ad dealt with any query very promptly. The hot tab was a lovely touch to wind down in the evening. The site is well positioned close to Edinburg central via a very reliable bus journey taking 30mins. I highly recommend this holiday park and will certainly be visiting them again in the future.

Room Tip: We had a 2 bed lodge with hit tub very yummy indeed

So spending 10 days here seemed like a good idea at the time of booking. Website looks good with nice pictures. What they don't show you is actually what the site is like. The staff were unfriendly so we stayed clear of them. You are shoe horned into a field where cars have to drive inbetween grassy areas to gain access to their wedged in caravan. Not a massive deal really. Worse to come are the facilities. 3 showers in the ladies which equals long ques every morning. The showers are all underpowered electric ones which either scald you or freeze you. So no wonder the ques are big, its almost impossible to wash long hair. The disabled facilities are less than poor, with an old office chair to sit on which looks 30 years old. In the mens, human poo was on the floor uncleaned for at least 2 days (then we left so it could still be there now). No locks on the block door so bugs and critters fly in all day and basically hang out there. Its dirty, cold block, with poor facilities was not acceptable. The caravan club sites are immaculate and cheaper than this site. For some this site would be fine, and the childrens area was good. But for anyone with any cleanliness standard don't go there. Its also 30 mins drive to edinburgh not 20. And the bus takes 1 hour to get you there. The local villages are full of pound shops and you are best to just drive off to get away from the sad area this site is based in. Nothing near the site, so your stuffed if you have no car. There is no speed limit on this site so the staff who whizz round on their golf buggies as fast as they can are a complete hazard to all children. They speed round as fast as they can round blind corners round the caravans. So our little boy was not allowed out without firm hand hold. The dish washing area is ok, but not when kids brush they're teeth in there. Worse camp site Ive ever stayed on. Thank god my caravan had a shower in, otherwise would've vacated. No one said hello, not the other people staying there or the staff, very unfriendly atmosphere. Hope this gives a true picture of this outdated poor site.

Going by what i saw , if your a camper or have a mobile home this is a top notch site. Even the octolodges look value for money. Problem was i booked a lodge with a hot tub ,paid top dollar for it and with the price comes a certain level of expectation. There were a few wee cosmetic niggles that needed sorted and because i knew they weren't that hard to fix they grated on my nerves more because it seemed somebody just couldnt be bothered fixing them. Such as black mould on the shower screen, no big deal to sort, no great hazard to health but minging to look at. A bent towel rail that takes two minutes to replace but cos it wasn't it made the bathroom look shabby.. loved the site , quiet, dog friendly and close to everything. Hot tub is fab and loads of fun.Site shop is great if you run out of anything. If the site handyman gets his finger out ,life will be good for everyone
