A good local small theatre ideal for performances of small plays. The local pantomime is an annual sell out. Lots of small cast shows frequently come here after being on at The Edinburgh Fringe. A good place for a night out.

Was here for the fist time last Friday seeing the excellent performance of "Eric and Little Ern". The theatre itself is a real hidden gem, I had never been before and what a delight. Comfortable seating, nice bar area and very welcoming staff, all in all a lovely place.

The Brunton Theatre is situated in the heart of Musselburgh and is very easily reached as all local buses pass outside the Theatre. The Theatre always has a Christmas Pantomime as well as shows throughout the year. Several amateur groups also perform at the Brunton Theatre and most of the shows are suitable for children and adults alike. The Theatre also has a lovely Café/Restaurant where they sell coffees, snacks and meals throughout the day. The Brunton Theatre is very popular throughout the whole of the Lothian and surrounding districts and very worthy of a visit to one of the many shows.

We went to see the Nutshell theatre production of The Thread by Jules Thorne. It was quite an amusing play with rather dark overtones which, from the start incorporated the audience. We took part in a Beetle drive as part of an evening's entertainment in the coastal town of Burntisland. Quite a number of the audience looked a bit uncomfortable with this. Also uncomfortable were the plastic stools which the audience were forced to sit on for about an hour. My back was aching within the first 30 minutes and I longed to have a chair with a back to it.( I do think that we should have been warned about this in the Brunton Hall Season programme. I, personally would not have attended if I had been given this information since I am 71 and suffer from back problems. Having said that, I do think that the artists did a marvellous job and most people seemed to appreciate a good performance.

Thank you for your feedback about the recent production of Thread by Nutshell Theatre. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the performance. We are sorry that it has taken a while to respond.

We are sorry that the descriptive copy for the show was not clearer that this would involve some audience participation. It was supplied to us by the theatre company, and we will be happy to pass on your feedback regarding this. We are also sorry that you were uncomfortable during the performance, and hope that your back is feeling better.

We appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback, and we hope to welcome you to The Brunton again soon.

I went three times during August for the fringe events and generally they were good. The new renovated Venue 1 was good. The only issue I had was as the events we saw were tribute acts they tend to attract people who are not used to going to the theatre. At one event it was evident that some members of the audience had had too much to drink and yet they were still able to go to the bar and get more to drink with only about 15 mins till the end of the show and then they tried to get into the performing space where there were lots of wires. This was a bit of a health and safety issue. There were no staff in the auditorium to stop this happening and to prevent people recording the show. One man near the front sat with his video camera and filmed the whole show.

Other than this this is a very good theatre with friendly staff just not as attentive as when in the old theatre space.
